Alberto Del Rio is probably returning to his old stomping grounds, the WWE for the third time as per WrestleZone. This is mainly due to the WWE acquiring AAA (Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide), a highly respected lucha libre promotion in Mexico. Several talents from the promotion have signed a contract with the Stamford based company since then, including Alberto Del Rio.
However, Del Rio signing a contract with the WWE has garnered negative reactions from the fans. This is due to the controversies surrounding him like arrests and sexual assaults. However, these charges were dropped in December 2021. Alberto Del Rio (presently known as Alberto El Patron) faced criticism again in March 2025. This is due to him chucking a chair at a fan during an event in Tijuana. A woman suffered injuries due to this altercation. She was taken to the hospital as per WrestleZone.
Alberto Del Rio has become one of the most hated wrestlers from the fans and his return to WWE TV will not be positive for the Stamford based company. Alberto Del Rio will only compete in AAA events and not for WWE TV as per reports. However, the WWE is yet to make an official announcement about Alberto Del Rio’s return.
The WWE fans has been speculating whether the WWE will revive The League of Nations or not. This is because two of its former members are back with the company as a wrestler and a commentator. The third member is already an active wrestler with the company. The fourth has not yet appeared on WWE TV.
The WWE is unlikely to revive The League of Nations even if Alberto Del Rio returns to WWE TV. This is because the group proved to be extremely unpopular with the fans. Wade Barrett has taken a break from wrestling. He has become a commentator. That leaves Rusev and Sheamus to be the only active former members. Rusev had formerly stated that the group’s role was to make Roman Reigns more popular. Moreover, they also served to be a punching bag for Roman Reigns. The WWE was then pushing Roman Reigns to be the company’s top babyface after John Cena. Additionally, Rusev also revealed there were real life enemity among the members of the group as per reports.
The WWE is highly unlikely to revive The League of Nations given all the unpopularity of the stable. However, even if they do, they will definitely not be adding Alberto Del Rio into it. Rather, WWE can include newer foreign wrestlers like Gunther (Austria), Aleister Black (Netherlands) and Ilja Dragunov (Russia) alongside Rusev and Sheamus.
