Just some time back, the New York Giants were lacking of players in the quarterback department and there were a lot of concerns amongst the Giants’ fans. All the big named QBs in the free agency were getting signed by different teams and the Giants still had not made a move. In fact they waited for so long that there was almost nobody left in the market that the Giants could sign, except for a couple of QBs like Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers.
The Giants were linked with signing Aaron Rodgers to a deal, but since Rodgers went on to visit the Steelers’ facility and wanted a long term deal with a team, the chances of the Giants signing Rodgers was out of the question.
Now, suddenly, the Giants have filled the void and they now have three QBs out of nowhere. We all thought that the Giants were most likely going to draft a top tier QB from the 2025 NFL draft like a Shedeur Sanders, or a Jaxson Dart, with the way things were going. However, these signings have made one thing clear, that the Giants will be looking for something else in the NFL draft. A corner, edge rusher, defensive tackle maybe, who knows? But whatever there’re planning to do in the NFL draft, could be something that nobody is anticipating.
So today we’ll be looking at all the quarterbacks that the Giants acquired and how that could potentially be a good thing going forward. Let’s get right into it.

The Giants firstly resigned Tommy DeVito to a one-year $1.03 million, with no guarantee, deal on March 8th, 2025. Which is the minimum salary for a player of DeVito’s experience. DeVito has only played in the NFL for two seasons so far and served as the Giants’ backup QB for the last two seasons. He has always stayed ready and when given the chance, DeVito has produced. He did not get to play much in the 2024 season and only registered 257 passing yards in three games played (started for two).
But in 2023, DeVito played 9 games, while starting in 6, and registered 1101 passing yards, 8 touchdowns, on 64% pass accuracy. He led the team to a 3-3 record as a starter and produced when the team needed him to.
The Giants then went ahead to sign Jameis Winston who played for the Cleveland Browns last season. Apart from handing out W cookies, Winston also played great for the Browns last season. He played in 12 games, while starting for 7, and racked up 2121 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, on 61.1 percent pass accuracy.
The only problem with Winston, as it has always been, is not that he can’t produce but he’s a turnover machine which has him bouncing across various teams in the NFL. Last season, even though he started in only 7 games, Winston still had 12 turnovers and that is something he just has not been able to fix.

Lastly, the signing of Russell Wilson. He played for the Steelers last season and we could clearly see signs of him diminishing as a QB. Last season he only played in 11 games and was benched as the team decided to start Justin Fields instead. Wilson threw for over 2000 yards but that was a career low for the former Super Bowl champ. He was recently acquired by the Giants for a one-year $21 million deal, and that may not prove to be fruitful for the Giants.
The Giants signed all of these three quarterbacks in less than a month and the question to be asked is, if the Giants did the right thing by signing three quarterbacks and not taking a chance in the NFL draft.
There are a couple of reasons and here is what we think-

Lastly, Russell Wilson is old and yes, he is regressing but people tend to forget that he is Super Bowl champion and is one of the top QBs in history of the NFL. He has the experience of winning at the highest of levels and can certainly still be effective.
Having three different quarterbacks can give you a lot of option, and head coach Brian Daboll will have plenty to work with next season. While the Giants are not a championship contending team yet, they can at least hope to win more games than they did last season.
