Cooper Kupp joined the Seattle Seahawks on a 3-year $45 million contract, which includes an average annual salary of $15 million. This comes after the L.A Rams let go of Kupp after signing WR Davante Adams on a 2-year $44 million deal, which according to many was an overpay. Kupp had a historic season in the 2021, where he was the triple crown winner and also the Super Bowl MVP. He helped the Rams win only their second Super Bowl title and finished the season with 1947 receiving yards, 145 receptions, 16 touchdowns.
After winning the Super Bowl, Kupp was never the same again and since 2021, he never played in more than 12 games in any of the regular seasons. While he was on pace to go on another great season in 2022, injuries started to derail him and his production. Even though Kupp had previously stated that he wants to play for the Rams for the rest of his NFL career, the NFL is a business and what you did for them in the past does not matter as every team is always looking forward to the future.

So in the end, the Seahawks ended up signing Kupp after their former receiver D.K. Metcalf signed a four-year deal with the Steelers. Seahawks will look quite different next season and the addition of Kupp and Darnold has many fans excited for what is to come in the future.

Prior to Kupp signing with the Seahawks, there are reports suggesting that Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb wanted Kupp to join their team. Let us break it down further.
According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb had called to recruit the talents of Cooper Kupp to the Cowboys. Here is what Schefter had to say on his podcast;
“Last Thursday, the Cowboys reached out about Cooper Kupp and they were interested.” He continued, “Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, who I understand it, were on the phone with Cooper Kupp talking to him about the idea of coming to Dallas, and it was floated out there. And then the Cowboys heard the numbers, and they were at numbers that the Cowboys weren’t going to get to.”
Somebody may need to remind Dak Prescott that just because the Cowboys are the richest team in the NFL and are valued at over $10 billion, doesn’t mean they can hire anybody that’s available. After all Prescott is taking loads of money from the Cowboys and is the highest paid player in the league with $60 million as his average annual salary. When you take that kind of money, the team’s flexibility in terms of signing players will always remain low.
Dak has agreed to a 4-year, $240M extension with $231M guaranteed, per @RapSheet and @TomPelissero

Sure the Cowboys have the 7th highest Cap Space in the league with $52.6 million but looking at Kupp’s injury history and his decline as a player, to offer huge loads of money on one guy that’s isn’t nearly consistent and only plays in 12 games a season, is a huge risk that the Cowboys can’t afford.
