The Giants quarterback situation is anything but ideal!
The New York Giants currently have a quarterback crisis on their hands. After letting Daniel Jones leave via a midseason trade last November, the Giants currently have only Tommy DeVito on their roster. As per various reports, the Giants have been in touch with former Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and are awaiting his decision.
Rodgers is the top free-agent quarterback available to all teams looking for a solution at the position. As a result of which he has garnered interest from the Steelers and perhaps the Browns as well. However, neither the Giants nor the Browns are in a win-now position and given Rodgers’ age, his priority will lie with a team capable of winning a Championship.

In that respect, Rodgers is keen on joining the Minnesota Vikings who have only J.J. McCarthy on the roster. McCarthy is the long-term solution for the Vikings, but the decision they must take now is whether to sign Rodgers and let their young quarterback gain valuable experience behind one of the game’s best to ever do it or whether to roll with McCarthy and let him develop on the field after having missed his rookie year due to injury.
Whatever the case is, until and unless the Vikings make a decision, Rodgers will not make a decision on his future. And, it may so happen that if Minnesota passes up on the opportunity to sign the 4-time MVP, Rodgers may even call it quits on his playing career. Should that scenario play out, the Giants will have to consider other options to fill the position.

Although the Giants would prefer Rodgers as their first choice, there is more than a good chance that won’t be the case. So, New York is left with a couple of choices, the first one being to bring in a free agent such as Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston who are the leading candidates. Neither of these players is going to lead the Giants back to the playoffs on their individual talents, but if the G-men are looking to add veteran presence to their roster, then free agency will be the way forward.
The other option for New York to consider is the draft. However, the Giants, at number 3 are not guaranteed a quality quarterback considering this year’s class is relatively weak with only Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders as potential starting options. If the Titans and the Browns both select them at number 1 and 2 overall, New York may have to abort this plan and revert their attention to free agents. The only sure-shot way of landing a quality QB in the draft is to trade up.
The Giants have important decisions to make and finding their starting signal caller for the upcoming season is at the top of the list. Giants fans have reason to worry, especially those who are crossing their fingers in the hope that Aaron Rodgers will make the move from the green part of the city to the blue.
