Cam Ward back on top as the most likely pick for number one overall!
The 2025 NFL draft is just a little over a month away, and after much speculation of who the number one overall pick will be, NFL insider, Adam Schefter believes that Miami quarterback Cam Ward’s name will eventually be called by the team selecting first overall.
This year, the draft class is considered to be one of the weaker classes for the quarterback position. Thus, players such as edge rusher Abdul Carter and two-way wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter have been linked with the first overall pick in the previous months. The top two quarterbacks this year seem to be Ward and Colorado Buffaloes’ Shedeur Sanders, in that order respectively.
Currently, the Titans control the number one overall pick and they have a few options with what they want to do with it. Their first option is to keep the pick for themselves and draft a top non-QB player, say Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter. But if that is the case, they would do well to move down the order one spot and get some draft capital in the process from the Browns if they want to select a quarterback.

Their second option is to keep the pick to themselves and if they feel Ward is the future of their franchise, then they can select him. As per Schefter, the Titans did not sign a veteran quarterback in free agency and their current QB room consists of Will Levis and Brandon Allen. Schefter believes the Titans will make a calculated decision taking into account all the possibilities, but if the Titans retain their pick, it will be Ward’s name they will call.
“It certainly seems like there is a mounting consensus that Cam Ward is gonna be the number one pick and if we look at what the Titans did during free agency, they did not make a move for an established, veteran quarterback. The only quarterback that they signed in free agency was Brandon Allen. They didn’t address the quarterback position in a meaningful way, and that would seem to suggest for whatever that’s worth, that a quarterback could be the direction that this team moves in on draft night.”

Another possibility on the cards for the Titans is to slide further down the draft order and hand the pick to a team looking for a signal caller and get a bunch of draft picks in return. This is certainly an option worth considering as it will allow the Titans to rebuild, but it would also mean waiting at least another year for a chance at a franchise quarterback.

I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unites and entertains like nothing else!
