Belal Muhammad will face Jack Della Maddalena for his first title defense match, since he won the title away from Leon Edwards last summer. It has nearly been a year since we’ve seen the current welterweight champion in action, but recently Muhammad has been on various podcasts to remind everybody about his greatness. At first, we saw how he claimed recently that against Maddalena, he will not even try one takedown, and rather finish him off with his striking alone, calling it the “Canelo hands.” Then next, he claimed how his friend Islam Makhachev can start booking his fight, since Muhammad said that he’s not going to return from Montreal with the welterweight belt.
Recently, Muhammad talked to the TNT about how he believes that he is the far superior fighter between him and Jack Della Maddalena, and about how he has multiple ways to take down his opponent at UFC 315. Is he celebrating too early? Looking at his confidence, you would think that the fight is already over. So what did Muhammad say exactly? Let’s find out.
Jack Della Maddalena sends a message to Belal Muhammad:

“I think he’s in for a rude awakening. I’ll break him with strikes, physically break him.
He’s had a good run in the UFC. It’s retirement time buddy.” 👀😳

Muhammad has been coming out with a lot of statements recently, and here is what he said in his latest interview with TNT. He said, “Jack has never fought anybody like me. He’s never been in that type of predicament where a guy’s a better striker than him. But then I could also take you down. I will and there is no plan B for him. He only has Plan A, is to box… That is really the path to victory for me. I could out strike him, and then if I decide, I’ll take him down. And then if I decide, I’ll pull guard. I can do whatever I want with this guy. I can win in any way I want, in multiple ways.”
“So for me, it’s just to show the world the best version of myself, to show them what I’m capable of and leave them after this fight, thinking that who’s going to beat him? Who has a chance against him? That’s what I’m going to leave them with after this result.”
When the reporter asked Muhammad about why he’s been able to crush multiple double-digit win streaks. Muhammad ended Sean Brady’s 15 fight, unbeaten win streak, and also wiped out Leon Edwards’ 12 fight win streak.
Muhammad replied to the question saying, “Yeah man. Once they run into this wall, they don’t know what to do with it. Right? I can tell you these guys that could be on a 30 fight winning streak, but they’ve never fought anybody like me. They never felt the pressure that I bring. They never felt the energy that I bring. And I think a lot of these guys, after the fight, they realize it’s different. I’m a different animal. So he could be on this long streak, but there’s nobody that was on that streak that fights like me, that moves like me, that, you know, feels like me. And I think he’s going to realize that after the first 30 or 40 seconds, the same way Leon did when he felt that strength. Felt That power. And then your energy changes, you mindset changes. Then you start looking for your corners, you coaches, to say something and for him. There’s nothing that’s going to be said to him, that’s going to help him.“
