Boxing has not seen much of a growth in terms of popularity but the sport has existed since January 6th, 1681! We have seen countless boxers come into the ring since then and leave behind a lot of memories. However, if the league is to exist in the modern times, you have to make some drastic changes.
In comes Dana White, who has made UFC into a global powerhouse. The UFC brand has slowly and steadily grown in terms of popularity and revenue, and fighters from all across the world dream of competing in there. White has done a lot to promote the brand but most importantly, he gives the fans the fights they want to see. Another huge part of UFC is that, the fights happen in rapid succession instead of making the fans wait for hours for the next fight like Pro Boxing does.

Seeing White’s success operating the UFC, Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh decided to join forces with the UFC president to create a new boxing league. The multi-year deal between Alalshikh and TKO Group Holdings will bring UFC CEO Nick Khan to do something about pro boxing’s poor promotional skills. There is nobody better than the Dana White and Khan when it comes to promoting and create a certain buzz about the fight that is going to take place.

Recently, when one of the world’s most famous and talented pro boxers, Ryan Garcia, was asked about how he feels about Dana White announcing his new boxing promotion, Garcia was blunt with his response. Let’s see what he said.
Garcia was asked to share his thoughts on Dana White entering the world of boxing and teaming up with Alalshikh.
“If they pay like the UFC though, we might not like it. But I’m happy Dana’s getting involved. He’s a great dude and I’m sure they’re gonna do big things,” Garcia said.
It is an interesting question to answer but it’s never that simple. With UFC, there are basically tiers of fighters. One who is in the lowest tier gets about $10K to $30K for a fight. Then there’s fighters who are more established and have fought multiple times, who will get around $80-$200K per fight. Finally there are the stars who get paid anywhere between $300k-$5 million. We are not going to mention fighters such as McGregor as he is in a class of his own, when it came to pay day.
Boxers get huge money, as you may have heard somewhere. However, what people fail to realize is that they are typically talking about the biggest stars such as Money Mayweather, Canelo Alvarez, and so on. Biggest boxing stars get paid more because they get to negotiate the purse between the two fighters. At the end, it’s just impossible to compare the two sports in terms of pay.
Guys like Ryan Garcia are obviously stars so they will demand a lot of money going into the fight but it is not the same for boxers who are on the lower tier.
