Myles Garrett Exited by the Thought of Putting 4-Time MVP in ‘Graveyard’

Devavrat Kulkarni

Myles Garrett has his eye on the prize!

After what felt like eternity, former Packers and Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers finally signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week to put an end to all the noise surrounding his free agent status.

Rodgers, who played the first 18 seasons of his career in Green Bay, signed a 3-year deal with the New York Jets in 2023 but was released by the team this offseason due to injuries and overall subpar play. Since then, he was linked with a move to multiple teams in the league, but the Steelers were always one of the top contenders.

Now that the former Super Bowl winner has joined the Steelers, he is part of the NFC North division, consisting of the Ravens, Bengals, and Browns, one of the more competitive divisions in the NFL currently.

Myles Garrett Reacts to Rodgers Signing With the Steelers

Cleveland Browns’ star defensive end was asked about his thoughts on Rodgers joining the Steelers during his press conference at the Browns’ OTAs. The 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year kept his response quite simple and precise.

“What do I think about it? I think it’s a good opportunity to uh put him in the graveyard.”

The statement from Garrett is with reference to all the quarterbacks he has sacked during his time in the league. He has a unique tradition of decorating the lawn at his house with tombstones of all the NFL quarterbacks he has sacked in his career thus far.

Thus, Garrett’s intentions are quite clear. He would like nothing more than to put Rodgers to the ground and to achieve his target; the former number one overall pick will get two chances in the upcoming season.

Browns’ Games Against the Steelers in the 2025–26 NFL Season

This season, the Browns will play the Steelers twice in a span of 2 weeks, with their first matchup coming in week 12 in a home game for Cleveland. In week 14, Garrett and the Browns will travel to Pittsburgh for their second game of the season.

Incidentally, Garrett has played against Rodgers only once so far in his career, which was a week 16 game in 2021 when the 41-year-old was playing for the Packers. Green Bay ended up winning that game, and unfortunately for Garrett, he couldn’t record a sack on Rodgers that day.

Earlier in the offseason, Garrett had actually requested the Browns to trade him, but a new 4-year contract worth $160 million, making him the highest-earning defensive end in the league, resulted in a change of heart. Now, the 6-time Pro Bowler has extra motivation to go up against one of the game’s best and come out on top. Who will win this battle? Only time will tell.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
