Mike McDaniel focused on the job at hand
NFL teams are currently in the process of holding their OTAs, which is always a fun place to keep an eye out for things. Teams get ready for a grueling season ahead as they put in the hard work in training, hold several meetings, and work their way back into shape for the upcoming season.
However, every year, there are notable absentees from these sessions, indicating that things may not be on the right track between the player and the organization. One such incident is currently ongoing in Miami, where the Dolphins’ OTA sessions are taking place, but with their noteworthy cornerback Jalen Ramsey missing out on all the action. Despite skipping the mandatory minicamp, the corner will not be fined as he is on the trade block.

During the press conference at the OTAs, Dolphins’ head coach Mike McDaniel was asked about the presence of cornerback Jalen Ramsey at the training sessions. McDaniel confirmed that Ramsey was not present and maintained that his sole focus for the day was on building the team instead of unwanted distractions.
“He’s not here. We are focused on building the Dolphins today and anything outside of that would any sort of distractions I’m not focused on.”
In response to a question regarding the long duration it has taken for Ramsey’s trade to get finalized, McDaniel said he couldn’t care less about it and that his job was to ensure everything in the team moved smoothly in one direction.
“Personally, I don’t give a shit about what I feel. I don’t even really go down that road of how do I feel about it. My job is to react and control my controllables and make sure that people are moving in one direction appropriately.”

He also added that business during the offseason is all noise, a part of the distraction that the team shouldn’t focus on. The aim is to overcome the external factors and to focus on the job at hand.
“Business in the off seasons allows you to speak to your team about how the focus of noise is a constant battle that if you’re successful you have to win and it’s about not really caring about all things other than what we’re here to do today which is mandatory minicamp practice one.”

Explicitly, there has been no official reason as to why the Dolphins are trading their star corner. Reports indicate that both parties mutually decided to move on this spring. Sources also indicate that the move is not related to financial matters, which more or less means that one of the two parties is not happy with the other.
The Florida State alum was a top corner in the league while playing for the Jaguars and Rams, but since his arrival in Miami, his overall production has dipped. In addition to that, his personality is also not the easiest to deal with.

If the Dolphins are able to find a suitable trade partner for Ramsey, that could potentially open the door for former Packer Jaire Alexander to join the team, as Green Bay recently released him.
