CB Jaire Alexander Cut By the Packers- What’s next for the 2x Pro Bowler?

The Green Bay Packers have parted ways with two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander, ending a long saga that had the fans and the NFL pundits guessing throughout the 2025 offseason so far. NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport reported the release on Monday, June 9, 2025, which was just before the team’s mandatory minicamp. After months of trade speculations, rumors, and failed negotiations, the Packers’ decision to cut Alexander, their 1st-round pick, comes mostly from his persistent injury and a hefty cap hit, which was too much for the Packers to keep him around. The team reportedly offered a restructured contract with a pay cut, but Alexander declined, opting for free agency to seek a better deal.

Alexander’s tenure in Green Bay was marked by elite play when healthy, but that was the whole point. He played in only 14 games in the last two seasons but was elite when he was on the field leading to pro bowl nods in 2022 and 2020. Playing in only 7 games each in the last two seasons. In 2024, he recorded 16 combined tackles, seven pass deflections, two interceptions, and a touchdown, marking him an elite cornerback, when he’s wanted.

This move frees up $17.1 million in cap space but leaves Green Bay secondary reliant on Keisean Nixon, Nate Hobbs, and Carrington Valentine. Alexander, now 28 years of age, enters free agency with a high-upside, which could be a great news for many competing teams.

Possible Landing Spots for Jaire Alexander

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are known for chasing high-caliber players, and now that they’ve lost Darius Slay and Isaiah Rodgers in free agency, the Eagles could bring in Jaire Alexander which could elevate their backfield, complementing slot corner Cooper DeJean. This could help the Eagles create a formidable trio like the last season that they won the Super Bowl.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams already have a solid cornerback group with Darious Williams and Ahkello Witherspoon, however, that doesn’t mean they can’t get even better. Adding Alexander would charge their secondary talent, which also aligns with the star pursuit for the Rams. The Rams are close to winning a championship next season, and adding Alexander could be some of those final pieces that they need.

The Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens are also always on the hunt for great players on the market, and they could target Alexander. His skills would sit well with Ravens rookie Nate Wiggins, putting aside the loss of safety Ar’Darius Washington due to torn Achilles, and raising the Ravens’ defensive flexibility.

The San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are in a good position to make a deal as they have a lot of cap space to sign any player that they may require. After the 49ers lost Chavarious Ward, they are relying on unproven Tre Brown and rookie Upton Stout . If the 49ers were to sign Alexander, it would certainly help them define and stabilize their secondary for a Super Bowl push they want to make this upcoming season.

The Miami Dolphins

They could look at Jaire Alexander as the primary replacement for Jalen Ramsey, who they are trying to get move on from, according to various reports. Miami’s secondary options at CB isn’t any good either and if Ramsey leaves, the team would just take a bigger hit. Alexander would instanty become their top corner and add to a team, that is quite desperate to acquire more talent.
