A magical race for Charles Leclerc at the very end of the Spanish GP.
Charles Leclerc was facing yet another terrible weekend in Spain this weekend. The Monegasque did not participate in the final runs of Q3 on Saturday. As a result, he was starting the race in eighth place. Charles Leclerc was behind the likes of Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and other faster cars.
But Leclerc was not going to give up easily. As soon as the race started, Leclerc made up a few places. Soon, he was behind his teammate in fifth place. The Scarlet cars were racing each other to claim better position. In order to stop them degrading each other’s tyres, Ferrari asked Lewis Hamilton to swap places with his teammate, giving Charles the opportunity to attack ahead.
That start from Charles! 🤯

Leclerc spent the rest of the race chasing after the drivers in front. Charles Leclerc got his chance to shine after a safety car closed the gap between him and the frontrunners.
With only few laps to go before the end of the race, teams started pitting their drivers for a final go. Leclerc was among the horde of drivers who chose used soft tyres from qualifying. Leclerc was using comparatively better tyres which he didn’t utilise fully in Q3.
Red Bull Racing on the other hand, gave Max Verstappen hard tyres to race on. Verstappen was starting to feel the pressure while trying to warm up his tyres. Once the race was green flagged, Verstappen tried to speed away from Leclerc. Unfortunately for him, his rear tyres just did not have enough grip in them. Verstappen’s car was sideways withing seconds.

Charles Leclerc was not going to leave this opportunity go by. He shot his Ferrari at the Dutchman to overcame him as soon ad the lap began. The two drivers even bumped into each other along the straight. Leclerc drove in the inside line. He did not yield to Max Verstappen as he took the first corner.
Charles was lucky that George Russell came along to attack Max Verstappen. While he was busy fighting Russell, Leclerc sped away instantly. This gave him just enough gap to Verstappen and he was able to complete his race without any obstructions. Leclerc converted a disappointing weekend into delight to Ferrari with his late race bravery.
I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university's Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
