Monaco’s home hero, Charles Leclerc was the talk of the town last weekend. In a rare display of performance, Leclerc put his Ferrari on the top of the timesheets during practice. He could grab the front row during the qualifying narrowly missing out pole position to McLaren.

Charles Leclerc, who won Monaco in 2024, was the second place finisher in the race in 2025. At one point, he was even chasing Lando Norris for the race victory but he could not complete the move. Leclerc’s podium in Monaco was a fresh breath of air for Ferrari fans. The Maranello team has been facing numerous issues in 2025. The team is having painfully slow pace since the start of the weekend. Ferrari have won only two podiums as of Monaco GP 2025.

After their performance, Tifosi were expecting better results from the team in the upcoming races. To their surprise, Charles Leclerc’s recent interview is proving them wrong ahead of the Spanish GP.

Charles Leclerc Doesn’t Expect Performance Gains in Spain

The race in Monaco was incredibly well for Ferrari. They secured a podium and fourth place finish. Ferrari was flying in the hands of Leclerc throughout the weekend in Monte Carlo.

But, Leclerc has outlined the key differences in his recent interview. The track on Monaco is very bumpy and their 2025 challenger can handle the bumps very well. Unfortunately, it is a characteristic special to Monaco. Charles Leclerc does not think he will be able to repeat the same results in Spain this weekend. He is positive about the fact that the team understands their car much better after Monaco.

“For the rest of the tracks, we have had pretty good predictions of where we will stand, and that means that I think we understand this car pretty well. There is still quite a lot to understand and you always push to try to understand things that you didn’t already, but let’s say that it will most likely be as expected, which means pretty difficult.”

Leclerc wants to “reset” expectations in Barcelona so that there aren’t any false hopes. The Monegasque is not feeling confident about his car’s pace for a long time. He was not sure about his performance during the Monaco GP weekend. The Monaco GP is going to remain a one-off wonder for Ferrari. Leclerc is counting on the new regulations to help their team catch up to the rivals. The new technical directive of 2025 Spanish GP might help spice things up a little in the front row.
