The three host nations have already been pre-assigned to Groups A, B, and D, respectively. The remaining teams will be distributed across four pots, ensuring balanced and geographically diverse groups. The draw will follow similar proceedings as the Champions League and so on.
A computer will assist in maintaining the confederation restrictions. No two teams from the same continent will be drawn into the same group, except in Europe. Even then, only a maximum of two nations per group can be grouped together due to the big number of qualified teams from Europe.

The expanded format will feature 104 matches across the three host countries. The top two teams from each group will automatically qualify for the last 32. Meanwhile the eight best third-placed sides will also advance. Among the nations already qualified are Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Ghana, Morocco.
The host nations – Canada, the USA, and Mexico – have qualified by default along with debutants such as Jordan, Uzbekistan, and Cape Verde. With the draw nearing close, it will be interesting to see which teams form the group of death and which not-so-popular nations get the upper hand in the group stage.
