Swiss icon left amazed after Super Sunday’s final.

20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer expressed his appreciation towards Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, after the pair put up a stunning display in the 2025 French Open final. The top two players in the world battled it out for 5 hours 29 minutes, as Alcaraz retained his championship at the French capital.

Several global celebrities were seated in Court Philippe-Chatrier on Sunday, to watch the future of tennis. Sinner took charge in the initial stages of the match – grabbing the first two sets. However, the Spaniard’s never say die attitude was on full display. He captured the third set before saving three championship points in the fourth. With both players refusing to give in, a final set championship tiebreak was needed to carve the 22-year-old’s name on the Musketeers’ Cup.

Roger Federer Congratulates Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner

The tennis world was completely gobsmacked at what unfolded in Paris. With every passing rally, fans were running out of nails to bite and hair to pull out. The #RolandGarros buzz was trending worldwide – as experts called for the trophy to be shared between two gladiators of the modern age. After the historic thriller, several tennis superstars, including the great Roger Federer, took to Instagram to applaud Sinner and Alcaraz.

“3 winners in Paris today:,” said the eight-time Wimbledon champion. Federer is also a former champion at Roland Garros, capturing the trophy in 2009. “Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and the beautiful game of tennis. What a match!” During his time as a player, the 43-year-old unfortunately never faced either Sinner or Alcaraz. He retired in 2022 just as the young guns began their steady rise.

The historic success enabled Alcaraz to shatter all sorts of records. By virtue of remaining undefeated in Slam finals, the Spanish bull became just the second man in the Open Era to win his first five Grand Slam finals in a row after Roger Federer. The Swiss maestro famously emerged victorious in his first seven major finals.
