The Philadelphia Eagles shocked the entire NFL world when they absolutely dominated the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. The game was not even close and the Eagles stopped the Chiefs from achieving a three-peat. While the Eagles’ offensive unit played great, their defense was what the changed the whole game. In fact they played such suffocating defense that the Chiefs had not scored until late third quarter. Mahomes was put out of his rhythm very early and was sacked 6 times and was forced into throwing awful passes. We had not seen that kind of a defense in a very long time and the Chiefs had no answers.
The Eagles’ defensive coordinator, Victor John Fangio deserves a lot of credit for what he accomplished in the 2024 season and the Eagles were by far the best defensive team in the NFL. Now that the offseason has arrived, the Eagles let have already let go six of their defensive players and their defensive unit will certainly look different than what it was in 2024. Who are these players? Let’s find out.

Slay has already stated that the 2025 season will be his last. According to various reports, the Eagles still plan on releasing Darius Slay going forward, designating him as a post-June 1st release. Even though the Steelers want to sign Slay, the deal is not certain yet.
James Bradberry is expected to be cut from the team and he has been informed that he will be a designated post-June 1st release. His preseason Achilles tear kept him in the injury-reserved list throughout the season.

The Eagles traded safety C.J. Gardner to the Houstan Texans. The deal includes a swap of draft picks where the Eagles will receive Kenyon Green, a 2026 fifth-round pick, while sending a 2026 sixth-round to the Texans.
Even though the Eagles may have wanted to keep some of these players, the fact remained that they just could not afford to. Not matter how a player performs, the NFL is a business at the end of the day, and even if a team wants to run it back with the same unit, sometimes they just can’t afford to.
