The Charleston Open 2025 semifinals take place on Saturday.
In an all-American clash, unseeded Sofia Kenin battles eighth seed Amanda Anisimova for a spot in the grand final of the 2025 Charleston Open. A summit clash against either Jessica Pegula or giant killer Ekaterina Alexandrova awaits the victor of this highly anticipated final four tussle on Saturday. While Anisimova has already won a WTA 1000 this year, the same cannot be said for Kenin.
A former Australian Open champion from 2020, Sofia Kenin has had an abysmal start to the current season. She lost in the Round of 64 at both Sunshine Double events, including a double bagel defeat at the hands of Coco Gauff in Miami. The 26-year-old had failed to make it past the quarterfinal stage at any event in 2025 until the Charleston Open came around. She has beaten the likes of Belinda Bencic, Daria Kasatkina and Anna Kalinskaya to reach the final four.
Amanda Anisimova claimed the biggest trophy of her career when she beat Jelena Ostapenko to win the Qatar Open title earlier this year. Her most noteworthy win at the Charleston Open came against Emma Navarro in the quarterfinal stage. She is yet to drop a set this week, reaching her second semifinal of the season in the process.
The head to head record between Sofia Kenin and Amanda Anisimova is tied at 1-1. Although they have never met at the WTA level, the duo clashed twice in 2017 at the ITF level.

The two meetings between Kenin and Anisimova came at Tyler and Dothan, with both battles ending up as one-sided victories. It will be intriguing to see which American makes it to the final in Charleston, and whether or not we will get an all-American match on Sunday as well.

Sofia is into her first clay court semifinal since she reached the Roland Garros final in 2020.
It’s been an up & down couple of years, but she never stopped believing.

Although Amanda Anisimova starts this match as the favourite on paper, expect a humdinger of a semifinal on Saturday. We predict the in-form Kenin to continue her dream and go all the way to the final, turning the tables on Anisimova as well as the WTA Rankings in the process. Despite missing out on a possible Charleston double by getting knocked out in doubles, Kenin is yet to drop a set in the singles draw thus far.
Prediction: Sofia Kenin in straight sets.
Sofia Kenin Win: 13/8
Amanda Anisimova Win: 4/9
