Jessica Pegula vs. Sofia Kenin Head to Head Record, Preview and Prediction for Charleston Open 2025 Final

Gulshan Sharma

The Charleston Open 2025 final takes place on Sunday.

In an all-American clash, World No. 4 Jessica Pegula, who remains on course for a second title this season, will take on Sofia Kennin in the 2025 Charleston Open final. While Pegula got better of Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semi-final, Kennin advanced as eighth seed Amanda Anisimova retired with injury in the first set. Pegula would be hoping to become the first player to win WTA titles on two different surfaces this year.

Both players are going through a different journey this year as Pegula made the finals in the Miami Open last week, and Kennin has failed to cross the quarterfinal stage at any event in 2025. Pegula, the 2024 US Open finalist survived a tough test in the semi-finals. Alexandrova came back after losing the first set and took the game into the final set. It was Pegula who held the nerves to win the game 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.

A former Australian Open champion from 2020, Sofia Kenin defeated the likes of Belinda Bencic, Daria Kasatkina and Anna Kalinskaya to reach the championship game. The 26-year-old produced her best performance of the season after losing in the Round of 64 at both Sunshine Double events. Sofia will play her first clay court final since she reached the Roland Garros final in 2020. During her majestic run in the French Open, she beat Jessica Pegula in the Round of 32.
