Sheamus seems to be heading towards a feud with Rusev in the WWE. This development happens on the heels of their confrontation on Monday Night Raw last night on April 26, 2025.

Sheamus is presently a babyface in the WWE since he returned. Rusev on the other hand has gone back to being the heel since he came back to the company. Both of them have a considerable history as both former rivals as well as partners in the past. Sheamus Saved Akira Tozawa From Rusev After Their Match Ended

Rusev had a match against Akira Tozawa on Monday Night Raw last night. This match was supposed to be Tozawa’s revenge against Rusev for how he had assaulted the Alpha Academy (including him and Otis) a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it was a squash match. Rusev destroyed Akira Tozawa with a clothesline, a kick and then applied his submission The Accolade on him to win the match (via WWE on YouTube) –

Rusev refused to release Akira Tozawa from The Accolade even after the match ended. This is where Sheamus entered the scene. The Celtic Warrior rushed to the ringside, which caused Rusev to let go of Akira Tozawa. Sheamus got inside the ring and had an intense staredown with his former rival and partner before Rusev left the ring. The WWE Might Restart Sheamus vs. Rusev Rivalry Based on Their Old Tensions

The WWE is planning for a major feud for Rusev for sometime. They might have found the perfect candidate in Sheamus, as per Ringside News. These two have both been rivals and partners in the past. Sheamus and Rusev had a rivalry for the United States title in 2014. Rusev managed to win the title at last. Then, they became partners as the League of Nations from 2015 to 2016 along with Wade Barrett and Alberto Del Rio. However, the group was short-lived and unpopular with the fans. Moreover, Rusev had revealed that there were real life enmity within the group, which eventually led to it’s end.

The WWE can build up a feud between Sheamus and Rusev by revisiting all these old storylines. They can have Sheamus and Rusev blame each other for their past failure as a team. This can build a full blown feud between both of them. Both Sheamus and Rusev can provide “banger after banger after banger” during their feud for the fans, if done well.
