Josh Allen now the second-highest paid player in the NFL!
Josh Allen may have had another disappointing year as he once again crashed out of the playoffs before reaching a maiden Super Bowl appearance. However, since then, the Bills’ quarterback’s life has been all uphill. First, he was named the MVP of the league at the NFL Honors and now comes the news that Buffalo has made him the second-highest earning player in the NFL.
Despite signing a new deal in 2021 worth a little over $258 million for 6 years including an average salary of $43 million per year, Buffalo has rewarded their superstar with an even better deal. Allen’s latest extension will now see him pocket a handsome $330 million over the next 6 years and this contract comes with a guarantee of $250 million which is the highest-ever in the history of the league.
A new NFL mark: the Bills and Josh Allen reached agreement on a new record-setting six-year, $330 million contract that includes $250 million guaranteed, the largest guarantee ever given to an NFL player, sources tell ESPN.

The Bills have now locked down the California native until 2030 while handing out an average payday of $55 million which comes in second only behind the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott who makes $60 million annually. The message from Buffalo is loud and clear, putting their trust into a player whom they believe will lead them to a Super Bowl win sooner rather than later.

2024 was truly a wonderful year for Allen, one that catapulted him from a name just worthy of an MVP discussion into the group of players to have actually won the award. The MVP he won for his last season’s heroics was truly deserving, especially since the 2024 offseason made it seem like all of Allen’s weapons had been taken away from him.
Without the services of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, coupled with the loss of several key defensive players, Buffalo surprised everyone by being so dominant once the season began. Much of that had to do with the superb play of their quarterback, who took a step away from his natural game cutting down the turnovers and leading from the front.
Allen finished the 2024 season with 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, just 6 picks, and a passer rating of 101.4, while also using his dual threat ability to rush for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns along the ground. Allen led the Bills to a fifth consecutive AFC East division title, and to the AFC Championship game where they once again came up short against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Even before the start of the 2025 free agency, the Bills have put together quite a few deals ensuring they extend key players as they continue their hunt for their inaugural Lombardi Trophy. Along with Allen’s contract, the Bills have taken care of contract extensions for defensive end Greg Rousseau, linebacker Terrel Bernard and wide receiver Khalil Shakir.

However, this is a career change for me as previously I used to be a French to English translator. I started out in the sports media field because of two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis as well as my passion for writing. I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unites and entertains like nothing else!
