Former Buckeyes' quarterback Will Howard lets teams know what will happen if they pass on him in the draft!
Former Ohio State and Kansas State quarterback Will Howard has put all teams on notice with just a week to go before the draft. Howard, who is coming off a spectacular win over Notre Dame in the CFP National Championship Game, is confident of his abilities at quarterback at the NFL level and wants teams to know that he will come after them if they pass on him in the draft.
Howard, while speaking on an episode of ‘Hey Rookie Welcome to the NFL’, had the following message to deliver to all the teams ahead of the draft.
“Every single team that picks a quarterback in front of me – I’m going to make them regret not picking me.”
But that is not all, the Pennsylvania native who has earned the right to be confident in his skills after being named the offensive MVP of the CFP National Championship Game added to his previous statement by sending a strong but short statement further exuding his belief in himself.
“Draft me, or you’ll regret it”.

The 23-year-old has not had it easy throughout his football journey thus far. Doubted for most of his life by top schools, Howard expressed how he worked hard, kept trying in spite of not receiving offers from the leading football programs in the country, especially Penn State, being a native of Pennsylvania.
“I feel like my whole career I’ve been overlooked,” Howard said. “I didn’t have an offer from Pitt, I didn’t have an offer from Syracuse, I didn’t have an offer from Boston College, Penn State, Duke, Carolina. None of those schools offered me. I was trying for years. And I went to Kansas State and said, ‘I want to prove those people wrong.’ I hope Penn State looks back and says ‘Damn, we missed out on Will Howard.'”

Howard started his collegiate football journey in 2020, where he mostly remained as the backup for the first three years. It was only in the 2023 season that he got a chance to become the starter, following which he transferred to Ohio State for the 2024 season. The last two years of his college career showed significant improvement. In fact, in 2024, he led the Buckeyes to an impressive 14-2 record, throwing for 4,010 yards, with 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also added 7 touchdowns on the ground.
Howard is predominantly a pocket passer, but if and when required, he has shown the ability to extend plays. Standing tall at 6 ft 4 in and weighing approximately 236 lb, Howard will be one of the bigger signal callers in the league.
If accuracy and extension of plays to enable routes to develop are his strengths, his weaknesses include half-reads, predictability, and the inability to misguide the defense. Although he has shown improvement over the past couple of years, he is still considered an average backup at the moment.

I am a content writer for the NFL team. I joined The Playoffs recently at the beginning of February after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. However, this is a career change for me as previously I used to be a French to English translator. I started out in the sports media field because of two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis as well as my passion for writing. I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unites and entertains like nothing else!
