Alabama QB Jalen Milroe Receives NFL Invite Amongst Inspiring Sessions With the Saints and Browns

Jalen Milroe receives draft invite following increase in draft stock

Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe is making quite some waves ahead of the 2025 NFL draft this month. Milroe, who played 4 years of collegiate football with the Crimson Tide was the backup to Carolina Panthers’ QB Bryce Young during his freshman and sophomore years. After taking over starring duties in 2023, Milroe led the Crimson Tide to a 21-6 record, throwing for a total of 6,016 passing yards with 45 touchdowns and 20 interceptions to go along with his 1,577 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns on the ground in his 4-year span.

With the NFL draft coming up, several teams are conducting their private sessions as they get a chance to further evaluate those players who have caught their attention throughout the entire draft process. Holding private sessions with players gives teams a better understanding of the players’ capabilities and their demeanor both on and off the field. And, as per reports, Milroe has had impressive sessions with both New Orleans and Cleveland.

Jalen Milroe’s Private Sessions Earn Praise with the Saints and Browns

As per Jordan Schultz, NFL Insider for Fox Sports, Milroe has attended private workout sessions with both the New Orleans Saints and the Cleveland Browns. Both of his sessions with the respective franchises have resulted in impressive results.

As far as Cleveland is concerned, they are in desperate need of a quarterback with Deshaun Watson likely out for the season and Kenny Pickett potentially favored as a backup rather than a starter. This positive session with Milroe could possibly sway the Browns to select him in case they feel Shedeur Sanders is not the right way to go. The Browns hold the number 2 overall pick and the Titans who hold the first overall pick are most likely to select Miami’s Cam Ward which means Cleveland may draft a top-level talent at another position such as Abdul Carter at edge or Travis Hunter at corner keeping their eye on Milroe in the second round.

As for the Saints, they are currently set at quarterback with Derek Carr still under center. However, New Orleans could be looking to increase competition in the QB room with the potential signing of Milroe. It doesn’t look like they would spend their first-round draft pick on Milroe as they can use the number 9 overall pick to strengthen another position, but perhaps a round 2 or 3 selection may interest them if he is still on the board at that time.

All the buzz and hype of this year’s draft class has been amongst positions such as the edge and the running back. Even other positions such as the interior defensive line and offensive tackles have also garnered quite an interest. One position, however, which generally attracts the most fanfare is the quarterback position, but this year only Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders have been considered as top-level talent.

Previously, Milroe wasn’t seen as a first-round contender and several analysts have him much lower in their mock drafts. In fact, even though Milroe finds himself in the top 5 of all quarterbacks in this draft, his draft projection until recently has been rounds 3 or 4.

That, however, could change with the way Milroe is making quick ascension in his draft stock particularly this close to the big day. Milroe has reportedly accepted a surprising invite to the draft which is only handed out to those players expected to be selected in the first round.
