There is a raising trend in the NFL, where various teams are paying their quarterbacks huge loads of money, but with little to no return on investment. Every team’s end goal is to win the Super Bowl, however, there aren’t many teams that have been able to do that in the recent years. If we take a look at the recent past champions, the Kansas City Chiefs have dominated the league, and there aren’t many who have beaten Mahomes in the Super Bowl outside of Tom Brady, and Jalen Hurts. What surprises us is the fact that even though Mahomes has 5 Super Bowl appearances, he doesn’t even come in the top-10 highest paid Quarterbacks list.
There’s only one QB in the top-10 highest paid quarterbacks list, who has won a Super Bowl so far in his NFL career. Let’s find out who that is.
The top 10 highest paid Quarterbacks involves;
Rankings | Quarterback | Average Annual Value | Super Bowls |
1 | Dak Prescott | $60 Million | 0 |
T-2 | Jordan Love | $55 Million | 0 |
T-2 | Trevor Lawrence | $55 Million | 0 |
T-2 | Joe Burrow | $55 Million | 0 |
T-2 | Josh Allen | $55 Million | 0 |
6 | Tua Tagovailoa | $53.1 Million | 0 |
7 | Jared Goff | $53 Million | 0 |
8 | Justin Herbert | $52.5 Million | 0 |
9 | Lamar Jackson | $52 Million | 0 |
10 | Jalen Hurts | $51 Million | 1 |
As you can see from the list, only Jalen Hurts has won a Super Bowl from the top 10 highest paid quarterbacks list, and only Josh Allen has come close to winning the Super Bowl title. Superstar QBs such as Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen have not yet played in the Super Bowl, despite winning multiple MVP awards in between them.
Hurts already has two Super Bowl appearances so far, and has already won his first championship. At this point, it might be safe to say that he is arguably the second best quarterback in the NFL, only behind Patrick Mahomes. After all, Hurts, Tom Brady, and Joe Burrow are the only quarterbacks who have defeated Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs so far.
