Paige Bueckers fell short of two assists to record a double-double in the game.
Paige Bueckers highlighted a career-high performance in her second WNBA game of the season. The rookie player almost had a double-double in Dallas Wings’ 79-71 defeat to Seattle Storm. She fell short of two assists to set a record of scoring a double-double in only the second WNBA game of the career.
Bueckers were the No.1 overall pick for the Dallas Wings. She finished with 19 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds but couldn’t help the Wings secure their first win of the season. Dallas lost to Minnesota 99-84 in their season opener and Bueckers tallied 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.

Paige Bueckers’ career-high number on Monday night matches Caitlin Clark, who also reached those marks in a game last season. The UConn legend is the last rookie after Clark to reach these numbers in WNBA. The Indiana Fever star did it 12 times in her career. She becomes only the 10th rookie in WNBA history to reach these numbers in a game.

Paige Bueckers also becomes the second-fastest player in WNBA history to record a stat line of 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, behind only Candace Parker.
Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft, shot 7-for-14 from the floor and also added two steals and a block. Despite her outstanding performance on Monday, the Wings dropped second straight game. Bueckers are choosing the same path like Clark as the 2024 rookie of the year couldn’t help Fever to reach playoffs last season.
After a competitive 26-25 first quarter, the Storm outscored the Wings 31-15 to take a crucial 15-point lead at halftime. Dallas came back in the third quarter to reduce the deficit to 5 points but Storm survived the late comeback in the fourth to seal the game.
Following two consecutive home losses in the 2025 season, the Dallas Wings will now go on a four-game road trip and they will take on the Storm once again on Wednesday.
