The 2025 NHL Entry Draft is just around the corner
The 2024-25 NHL season has come to an end with the Florida Panthers lifting their second consecutive Stanley Cup with a 4-2 series win over the Edmonton Oilers. However, NHL fans won’t have to be too sad, as the 2025 NHL Entry Draft is just around the corner.
Young ice hockey players will be getting ready for their big day as the draft provides the ticket to fulfill their dreams of becoming a professional hockey player in the NHL. This year’s NHL entry draft is the 63rd of such kind.
Only those players born between January 1, 2005, and September 15, 2007, are eligible for this year’s draft. With that, let us now take a look at the draft order for the upcoming 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
The NHL Draft Order 2025 is finally set, and now we have the complete list of when the teams will make their selections. Following the draft lottery, which was held in early May, the New York Islanders have landed the number one overall pick. Here is the complete order of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, except for the Panthers and Oilers.

This year’s NHL draft will be held across two days, notably on Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28. The first round of the draft will be held on June 27 at 7:00 PM ET, and the remaining rounds will be held on June 28, with proceedings starting at Noon ET.

The 2025 NHL Entry Draft is set to take place at L.A. Live’s Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The 2-day event will be held live as teams select from a pool of talented players waiting to hear their name being called.
The event will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN+, Sportsnet, and TVAS on the first day, while the second day’s events will be broadcast on NHLN, ESPN+, Sportsnet, and Sportsnet 1.

The NHL Draft consists of 7 rounds. Each team is awarded a draft pick for every round, which means there will be a total of 224 selections taking place. Round 1 of the draft will be held on Friday, June 27, while rounds 2-7 will take place on Saturday, June 28.
Matthew Schaefer, Michael Misa, Anton Frondell, and Caleb Desnoyers are some of the top players at the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
17-year-old defenseman, Matthew Schaefer, is highly expected to be selected by the Islanders as the overall number 1 draft pick this year. The Canadian is a left-handed shooter who played for the Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Another Canadian, Michael Misa, is also a top player who is expected to be drafted number 2 overall by the San Jose Sharks. Misa was the captain of the Saginaw Spirit hockey team of the OHL. The 18-year-old left-handed shooter plays as a forward.
Swedish talent, Anton Frondell, is expected to be selected at number 3 overall by the Chicago Blackhawks. Fondell, another left-handed shooter, played center for Djurgårdens IF of the HockeyAllsvenskan, an ice-hockey league in Sweden.
Caleb Desnoyers is yet another top prospect who is a left-handed Canadian. The 18-year-old played for the Moncton Wildcats in the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The Utah Mammoth are expected to select him with the 4th overall pick.
