“Hamilton’s Heir” Proves He Is Worthy of The Throne! Miami GP Sprint Qualifying Results

The youngest driver of 2025 is now the youngest pole sitter of Formula 1!

Kimi Antonelli was the youngest driver on the grid and the second youngest ever to start a race in 2025. He was backed profusely by Mercedes principal Toto Wolff. After Hamilton’s departure from the team. The next driver had a lot of pressure to fill in his stead.

Enter Kimi Antonelli, a young boy still in school, managing his studies while racing. But, when he hit the tarmac, he made sure to roar his presence. Antonelli was one place short of a podium in his debut race.

Since then, the teen Italian has grown his talent like a “Teen titan”. Kimi Antonelli has been terrifyingly consistent in producing results for his team. Only once did he lose out on points due to wrong team strategy. Be it a street circuit or a sprint race, Antonelli always gave results.

The culmination of his talents and his perseverance found their closure this weekend. In the final moments of Sprint Qualifying session, Antonelli gave the entire paddock a pleasant shock with the Miami GP Sprint Qualifying Results.

The top-10 drivers from the sprint shootout yesterday are-

  1. Kimi Antonelli
  2. Lando Norris
  3. Oscar Piastri
  4. Max Verstappen
  5. George Russell
  6. Charles Leclerc
  7. Lewis Hamilton
  8. Alex Albon
  9. Isack Hadjar
  10. Fernando Alonso

Antonelli was on a destructive spree as he took this weekend for the sprint race. He was ahead of Lando Norris- a multiple race winner, Oscar Piastri- the championship leader, Max Verstappen- the four-time F1 champion.

The entire grid was happy for the youngest driver amongst them. “I’m feeling over the moon” was Kimi’s response.

Further down the grid, things were going good for both Alex Albon and Isack Hadjar. They using their midfielder cars to the maximum potential. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are still lagging behind in Qualifying sessions.

Alonso would be much happy considering his first Q3 entry in 2025. The Spaniard has been rethinking his future in F1. It would be a shame to watch him race as a backmarker after his podium quest in 2023. Kick Sauber looked competitive for once as Hulkenberg closed in on 11th position.

Disappointments and Regrets in Sprint Qualifying

Carlos Sainz looked consistent after his recent results with Williams. But El Matador locked up and could not set a time getting eliminated at 15th position. Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls both found their eliminated before top-10 shootout.

The Alpines had a particularly bad qualifying. Jack Doohan could not line up in time to set a good time and was eliminated in SQ1. Pierre Gasly clipped the wall in final moments of SQ2 which killed his chances of a top-10 start. Haas did not have a good session either and both Ocon and Bearman could not find the best times before getting eliminated.
