Formula 1 Rookies Head2Head!
The 2025 Formula 1 Rookies are a young pack of drivers who have taken the grid by storm. Each one of them is a well-known talent in the lower categories of F1. Kimi Antonelli was brought up as a racing driver by the Mercedes family honing his talents. Oliver Bearman finally got his contract after two superb performances last year as a substitute driver.
Isack Hadjar and Gabriel Bortoleto are straight out of the F2 Roster. Bortoleto is the F2 champion and Hadjar was the championship contender. Jack Doohan has also joined the grid after earning a name for himself in the lower Formula 1 series.

It has been many years since F1 saw a huge influx of rookies. The young drivers are distributed evenly throughout the field. Antonelli is driving in a top car whereas Bearman and Hadjar are a part of midfield. Unfortunately, Doohan and Bortoleto have to suffice themselves with backmarker cars for now.
Let’s have a look at how the Formula 1 Rookies are competing against each other in the championship.
Kimi Antonelli is arguably the best rookie on the grid currently. Not only has he impressed everyone with multiple top-5 finishes. He is also extremely consistent in his results and regularly matches the pace with his senior teammate. Hadjar and Bearman are accumulating multiple points for their respective teams in clutch situations. Doohan and Bortoleto are yet to score points in the championship as their cars remain mostly uncompetitive.
Here’s a summary of their performance:
Driver | Team | Races Started | DNF | Points | Highest Race Finish | Highest Qualifying Finish |
Kimi Antonelli | Mercedes | 7 | 1 | 48 | 4 | 1 |
Oliver Bearman | Haas Ferrari | 7 | 0 | 6 | 8 | 10 |
Isack Hadjar | Racing Bulls Honda RBPT | 6 | 0 | 7 | 8 | 7 |
Jack Doohan | Alpine Renault | 7 | 1 | 0 | 14 | 17 |
Gabriel Bortoleto | Kick Sauber Ferrari | 7 | 1 | 0 | 13 | 11 |
Kimi Antonelli looks set to become Rookie of the Year. His car’s raw pace combined with his own talents are enough to trump the other four rookies of the 2025 season. Antonelli already has more than six times the points of his closest competitor.
I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university's Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
