Lewis Hamilton shook the entire paddock with his statements on Saturday. The seven-time-champion, who is already facing a tough Formula 1 season with Ferrari, was left hopeless after the Hungary GP qualifying. Hamilton could only go 12th fastest on Saturday while his teammate was on pole. A distraught Lewis Hamilton did not hold back from venting out his frustrations in front of the media.
Lewis has been suffering from self-confidence issues in the 2025 season. The fact that he is regularly beat by his teammate doesn’t help the cause either. Only once in the 2025 season, has Hamilton ever displayed a glimpse of his former glory. The former Mercedes champion was the Sprint pole and Sprint race winner at the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix at the start of the season. Although, that would be his last time standing on the podium. Since then, Lewis is nowhere close to the front row and almost always lagging behind in the race.
Lewis Hamilton is no slouch at the Hungaroring. The veteran champion of Formula 1 holds multiple records at Hungaroring. He is the best driver at the Hungary Grand Prix weekend. The 2025 Grand Prix weekend in Hungary was nowhere as close to his best results throughout the years.
Hamilton was furious and disappointed at himself after the difference between him and Leclerc’s qualifying performance ended up being so huge. He straight up wanted to get replaced and called himself “useless” at Ferrari as a driver. His race was no better than his Saturday’s performance. Hamilton could not improve on his race pace and only brought forth P12 during the Hungary Grand Prix.

While talking to F1TV Lewis was completely devastated about his race-
“Not really, no. Just stuck where I was. Same as it was yesterday. I’m glad it’s over. I’m looking forward to going away.”
As Formula 1 head into the summer break and drivers prepare for the end of the season, Hamilton has an opportunities to improve. Watching his interview, F1 CEO, Stephano Domenicalli came forth to express his confidence in the driver-
“First of all, Lewis is a jewel, he is an incredible athlete, so no matter if it is a difficult moment, he will react, and I’m pretty sure he will show the reason why he is here.”
“He wants to achieve his eighth title, and he will triumph again. So, stay with Lewis and he will do a great race, and be very, very strong after the summer.”
Charles 🗣️ "It’s frustrating, because I think we could have won today, but we will return after the summer break and give it our all to come back stronger."

Ready to fight back after the summer break 🇭🇺
Ferrari were seemingly making progress with Charles Leclerc after their new upgrades. Although, the team threw it away during the race and went from challenging victory to losing podiums. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton’s performance is getting worse every weekend. At this points, he needs a miraculous weekend to restore his faith in the car and himself.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
