Juventus Striker Dusan Vlahovic Set for Long Layoff After Suffering Leg Injury

Abhinav Goel

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is set for a lengthy period on the sidelines after picking up a muscular injury during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Cagliari. Notably, the setback arrives at a decisive moment in the Sebian striker’s contract situation. Vlahovic was forced off after just 30 minutes with a problem in his left leg.

Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti confirmed post-match that the issue is serious enough to rule him out “for some time.” Early estimates suggest Vlahovic could miss around two months of football. The 24-year-old has already undergone checks at JMedical, with further details on the severity expected shortly.

Dusan Vlahovic Injury Puts Contract Plans on Hold

Notably, the injury will also directly impacts the future of Dusan Vlahovic in Turin. Vlahovic is entering the final stretch of his contract, which expires in June 2026. This means he will be free to negotiate with other clubs from February 1 if Juventus fail to agree an extension. Because of the injury, no top clubs will invest mid-season in a striker who may face a long recovery ahead.

With the striker unable to “showcase himself” to potential buyers, the situation may actually strengthen Juventus’ negotiating position if contract talks resume. Vlahovic has drawn interest from Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur among others. But a prolonged absence could cool the market as top clubs shift focus elsewhere. Juventus, on the other hand, may see this as an opportunity to push for an extension on more favourable terms. According to reports, the injury will now delay all contract discussions until the end of the season.

Last summer, CEO Damien Comolli was open to selling Vlahovic due to his €12m salary, but no club met Juve’s demands. Ironically, staying has benefitted both player and club so far. Vlahovic has been their most consistent attacking outlet this season, scoring six goals across all competitions.
