Paris Saint-Germain slipped to a surprise 1-0 defeat against Monaco on Saturday. However, the Ligue 1 champions managed to cling onto top spot in Ligue 1 thanks to Marseille’s 2-2 draw with Toulouse. Takumi Minamino sealed the victory for Monaco with a composed second-half finish.
The Japanese international guided Aleksandr Golovin’s delivery into the bottom corner for his second league goal of the season. Despite going down to 10 men after Thilo Kehrer was shown red following a VAR review, Monaco weathered late pressure and ended a run of three straight league defeats in the process.

The loss was only PSG’s second in Ligue 1 this campaign, with the first coming away to Marseille in September. Luis Enrique’s side looked far from their usual level and were punished for a lack of sharpness and uncharacteristic errors. “It was without doubt our worst match of the season,” the PSG coach admitted. Enrique acknowledged both tactical and individual shortcomings in his team’s display.
The result pushes Monaco up to sixth in the table, now seven points behind the leaders. The evening also brought a notable moment for the home crowd. Paul Pogba made his second appearance since returning from a long doping suspension. The World Cup winning midfielder featured late off the bench.

PSG fought hard for a late response, with Vitinha denied and Joao Neves heading wide deep into stoppage time. Monaco stood firm to secure a high-profile victory that throws fresh intrigue into the Ligue 1 title race.
PSG still remain first with 30 points from 14 matches, but their lead is slim. Marseille sit only one point behind after surrendering a late equaliser against Toulouse. Manwhile, Lens are just two points back in third and they can overtake both PSG and Marseille if they defeat Angers on Sunday.
