This will be the 100th year since the French Open became a Grand Slam event – and will take place between 25 May to 8 June, 2025. It is set to be the first Roland Garros tournament without the great Rafael Nadal. How much will the winners and runners-up earn at the clay court major this year?
The French Open, commonly known as Roland Garros, is the second Grand Slam tournament of the tennis calendar. It is played annually on the outdoor clay courts of the Stade Roland Garros. Its main court – Court Philippe Chatrier – is widely regarded as one of the most historic tennis venues around the world. Organised by the French Tennis Federation, the competition is normally held from late May onwards.

In the men’s singles category, Spaniard Rafael Nadal has redefined clay court tennis in Paris. He has won an unmatched 14 Roland Garros titles. American legend Chris Evert is the most decorated female singles athlete – with 7 championships at the French capital. In doubles, Roy Emerson (6) and Martina Navratilova (7) possess the most trophies at the French Open.

The total prize money commitment for the 2025 Roland Garros Championships is €56,352,000. This is an all-time high at the tournament, and over 5% increase from the 2024 edition of the competition. The singles winners and runners-up will witness a 6.25% hike in their earnings, while the prize money for doubles stars remains the same. Here is the full breakdown:
