F1 2025 Driver Line-Up: Who Are the Starting Drivers for the F1 Teams This Year?

Rohan Singh

The teams have selected their contenders for 2025.

The Formula 1 2025 season will be an adrenaline-fueled circus, performed on the tarmac of various tracks across the world. This high-performance convoy is set to spend their last year with the 2022 Regulations. The teams have already started bracing themselves for the 2026 Formula 1 Regulations (and new contenders on the field).

The 2024 Formula 1 season witnessed another masterclass of the four-time champion Max Verstappen. He became the second Red Bull driver to achieve four championships in succession (Sebastian Vettel flashbacks anyone?). Now that Formula 1 is one the verge of starting another season, there are many questions about the driver line-ups of the 2025 season.

The first confirmed Rookie of the 2025 Formula 1 season was Aston Martin driver, Fernando Alonso (obviously a joke). The teams have already released their final list for the confirmed drivers for the 2025 season.

F1 2025 Driver Line-ups

We shall be going through the driver lineups of the teams in the finishing order of the 2024 Formula 1 Constructors championship.

McLaren

Lando Norris (#3) and Oscar Piastri (#8) are going to be drivers for the 2024 Manufacturer champions, McLaren. The duo is one of the youngest on the grid and managed to snatch multiple victories in the 2024 season. Their efforts won McLaren their first Constructors championship since 2007.

Ferrari

Charles Leclerc (#16) and Lewis Hamilton (#44) will be the star performers of the 2025 season for the Prancing Horse. This pairing is arguably the most discussed partnership on the current grid. Hamilton is the seven-time champion and one of the legends of the grid, looking forward to redemption after his disappointing stint with Mercedes in the past three seasons. Leclerc on the other hand is ecstatic to capitalize on his victories from the previous season.

Red Bull Racing

Max Verstappen (#1) and Liam Lawson (#30) will form Red Bull’s starting lineup. Red Bull are the second team on the 2025 grid with major changes to their team. They let go of Adrian Newey, the air-bender, and Sergio “Checo” Perez, their Mexican Minister of Defense. Verstappen is their reigning champion and Lawson has been their junior ace as a replacement in the past two seasons.

Mercedes

George Russell (#63) and Kimi Antonelli (#12) shall start the season for the Silver Arrows. George Russell is going to take the lead after his compatriot Lewis Hamilton left the team. Toto Wolff’s young gamble, Kimi Antonelli, will have a lot to prove in the improved car of the Silver Arrows. The duo will have to build on the momentum gained by Mercedes in the past year.

Aston Martin

Fernando Alonso (#14) and Lance Stroll (#18) will be Aston Martin’s drivers for the 2025 season. With Newey joining their team, the duo is sure to benefit from his past expertise of creating championship winning Formula 1 cars. Alonso will be hunting for his next win during the 2025 season. Stroll meanwhile, would be on the lookout for his best season so far.

Alpine

Pierre Gasly (#10) and Jack Doohan (#7) are going to be the drivers for Alpine for the 2025 season. Alpine was one of the most improved teams of the 2024 season. They would be looking forward to pairing the expertise of Pierre Gasly with the newfound talent, Jack Doohan. The French team found themselves in a precarious situation with their drivers last year. They would not want the problems to repeat in 2025.

Haas

Oliver Bearman (#87) and Esteban Ocon (#31) will be a part of the 2025 campaign for Haas Ferrari. Haas have gone through many radical changes since the 2024 season. After replacing their team principal in 2024, Haas have decided to revamp their driver lineup for the 2025 season. Bearman will be the driver to be on lookout for. It would be interesting to see his performance in a back-marker car after his exploits at Ferrari in the last season.

RB

Isack Hajdar (#6) and Yuki Tsunoda (#22) shall be the flag bearers for the 2025 season of RB. The Red Bull sister team, does not share a speck of performance with their championship winning counterpart. Tsunoda and Hajdar will have to put their best foot (or shall I say lap times) forward in order to lead the team to better results in 2025.

Williams

Alex Albon (#23) and Carlos Sainz (#55) are paired together for the 2025 season, racing for Williams. Sainz made headlines when he joined Williams for 2025. The Spaniard is a man on mission, but will he take back Williams to their former glory in Formula 1? Alex Albon has had some brilliant performances in the past season but he needs to pick up the pace if he wants to compete against a top driver from Ferrari.

Kick Sauber

Nico Hulkenberg (#27) and Gabriel Bortoleto (#5) shall race alongside for the 2025 season at Kick Sauber. Arguably, the worst team of the 2024 season, Sauber, is up for a major overhaul in 2026. Hulkenberg is going to be their “numero uno” choice considering his ties with Audi. Bortoleto on the other hand needs to race consistently in order to stop himself from becoming the next Mick Schumacher.
