Williams Racing escaped becoming the worst team of the grid during the 2024 Formula 1 grid. The once mighty constructors Williams have been facing a crisis during the modern era of Formula 1. The Williams team which introduced Formula 1 to some of their greatest drivers of the 90s. The same team which pioneered active suspension in their cars has become a part of the backmarker teams.

Williams has been facing a crisis similar to Red Bull when it comes to their second driver. However, they lack the raw speed to brute force their way into the championship.

Williams has hosted some of the most balanced drivers in the past few years. They have had the likes of Valtteri Bottas, George Russell and Alex Albon to secure points for the team. On the other hand, drivers like Logan Sargeant, Nicholas Latifi have not made a similar contribution during their time with the team. Additionally, Williams faced budget troubles arising from the frequent crashes of Logan Sargeant and Alex Albon. The team breathed some relief in the final few races with Franco Colapinto earning them points.

Williams Driver Lineup for 2025

Williams have one of the best and balanced driver lineups for the 2025 season. Carlos Sainz Jr. and Alex Albon will pioneer the team in the 2025 Formula 1 season. Williams as a team may not have the speed required to compete with the other better teams. However, the duo of Sainz and Albon have a lot of experience to their name in Formula 1. Albon earned podiums in Red Bull and has been the go-to guy at Williams.

Carlos Sainz’s arrival has introduced Williams to a race winning driver again after Felipe Massa in the pre-turbo hybrid Formula 1 era. Sainz has been one of the best performing drivers during his tenure at Ferrari. He was the sole non-Red Bull driver to win a race in 2023. Carlos Sainz’s announcement to Williams was met with a lot of shock and spotlight. The driver was linked to Sauber due to his father’s connections with Audi. However, Chilli has made his intentions clear with Williams during his recent interviews with Formula 1.

Albono and Smooth Operator will have to shoulder the burden of spearheading Williams’s progress with much needed input. They will have to scourge for points, in order to bring back Williams from the rock bottom they have hit in Formula 1.
