The Formula 1 movie has been the talk of the town for the past year. The trailer of the movie is finally released to public.
Formula 1 released the trailer for their movie on March 14th, 2025. The movie is set to debut in theaters in June 2025. The Formula 1 movie has been the talk of the town for some seasons already. The movie features a significant amount of investment from Formula 1 legend, Lewis Hamilton. The movie features two actors in the lead role- Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes and Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce. They will drive for the fictional team APX GP.
The Formula 1 movie was spotted casting during some of the Grand Prix events earlier on in the 2024 season. The Formula 1 organisation has been heavily involved in the production of the film. They have featured the trailer of the film on their official channel and social media. The Formula 1 movie is going to be one of the most anticipated movies of 2025.
There are many positive and equally hilarious reactions for the upcoming movie, based on the comments from viewers. So here are the five things we noticed in the trailer-
The movie is primarily going to be focused on Formula 1 (as its name suggests). There are many mentions of other motorsports. The Sportscar series held at the Daytona International Speedway is one of them. The Formula 1 trailer has mentioned it from the very first scene. Ideally, it should play a huge role in the upcoming movie based on the background of the character.
The trailer has suggested an intense clash between the lead characters of the team APX GP. These two drivers are going to be at odds with each other from the very first day in the new team. We will be seeing some interesting on and off-track action between the drivers. One way or another, the drivers will have to work together in order to help APX GP achieve their goals.
The trailer suggests that one of the APX GP drivers is going to face a disastrous crash mid-season (or shall I say mid-movie). The reactions of the crew members and the background scenes of a car burning are enough proof. This may lead to the conclusion that the entire career of the driver might fall into jeopardy and he would have to redeem himself.
When the team principal of APX GP is discussing with Brad Pitt, he mentions that the character lives in a van and is a gambling addict. He also mentions Pitt’s career and how he is a washed-up driver. There is a scene in the movie where Pitt tests an old car. Pitt also has scenes with playing cards and he keeps one in his racing suit (possibly for good luck). Either way, it is quite obvious that Brad Pitt is going to have to struggle a lot and does not have a good reputation as a driver.
The producers of the film have tried to maintain the authenticity of the film. The real-time shooting at the tracks, the cars and even APX GP’s Formula 1 car is maintained to create the perfect movie experience for fans. There are many scenes from regular tracks on the Formula 1 calendar. The involvement of Lewis Hamilton in production seems to have affected the film in a positive manner.
In the official trailer, at 00:35, when Joshua is driving the car, we can see a phrase written on his helmet. Formula 1 drivers are known to keep some interesting phrases on their race suits and helmets. However, the word Joshua has used is offensive and a racial slur. Lewis Hamilton himself has spoken strongly against its use. But due to pop-culture, the word is used very commonly. Will Formula 1 remove the words since it’s officially associated with the movie or is it going to let it slide as creativity and expression aligning with today’s pop culture.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
