Craig Jones, who is the BJJ coach for UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and was also the grappling coach for Jack Della Maddalena, recently made a hilarious video, trolling Dagestani fighters. The UFC and MMA world is dominated by Dagestani fighters and some of the significant names include Khabib Nurmagomedov, Khamzat Chimaev, Islam Makhachev, and many more who were/are champions and have dominated their competition inside the octagon.
With Jack Della Maddalena facing off against Islam Makhachev at UFC 322 in November, 2025, JDM’s coach Craig Jones took time to troll Dagestani fighters and the timing could not have been any better. Let’s see what he said.
In a video posted by Craig Jones, he explained, “Today we discuss the origins of Dagestani dominance in MMA. I’m here to clear all of that Russian Propaganda. Dispel the mythical origin story and give credit where credit is rightfully due.”
Jones wasted no time in roasting the Russians and the origins saying, “When Russians shoot takedowns today, what you’re watching is cheap Canadian knockoff.” He then went on to roast Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov, saying they aren’t mountain men but Canadians who copied GSP (George St-Pierre).
Jones also trolled Makhachev claiming that he took GSP’s timing and Khabib’s control in wrestling, to add to his own.
It was all in all a hilarious video with many Dagestani fighters’ fans upset, but others who took it lightly and as a joke. In the end, this is all a build up leading up to the Della-Maddalena vs Makhachev fight at UFC 322, which promises to be an entertaining fight. Islam is moving to in weight class to challenge the current title holder and Maddalena is coming off an impressive victory against Belal Muhammad, where he showed his flawless striking and takedown defense.

mma I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
