It seems like UFC’s lightweight fighter Michael Chandler will probably never get his wish to fight Conor McGregor in the octagon, as the Irish fighter has decided to run for President of Ireland instead of coming back to the UFC and revitalizing his MMA career.
The days of weak men creating horrid times for Ireland are over!

MARK MY WORDS.
McGregor joined the UFC back in 2013 and had his debut against Marcus Brimage, which he won via knockout. Since then he went on to beat the likes of Max Holloway, Dustin Poirier, Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes, Eddie Alvarez, and many more fighters. While he had a devastating left hand and went on to be one of the few fighters to become a champ in multiple divisions, his is also known for his charismatic personality, sometimes with the way he trash talked other fighters, and sometimes for voicing out his controversial opinion without a care for anybody’s judgement.
The “Notorious,” gave us some of the most memorable fights in recent memory, like the time he fought Nate Diaz, twice. Diaz had initially beaten McGregor but he came back and got his redemption at his second attempt. Or the time where McGregor took on Khabib Nurmagomedov and lost, but the hype, the buildup, and the anticipation for the fight was all because of McGregor and not the Dagestani. McGregor also made headlines fighting Floyd Mayweather in the boxing ring and even though he lost, McGregor sheer determination to try out new things and find success the way he did is commendable.

Now that he’s announced to run for the presidency, who knows what he might achieve and how far he can go. Today, we’ll look at all the details leading up to the announcement.
After McGregor’s controversial visit to the White House, McGregor announced that he will be run for the Irish Presidency. McGregor has taken up a lot of issue with the Irish government and their immigration policies and here is what he tweeted on X;
“Ireland must implement the EU Migration Pact by June 12th, 2026, several pieces of legislation have to be passed by both houses of the Oireachtas and then signed by the president. Who else will stand up to Government and oppose this bill? Any other Presidential candidate they attempt to put forward will be of no resistance to them. I will.”
“For clarity also, as President, I would put forth this bill to referendum. Although I oppose greatly this pact, it is neither mine nor governments choice to make. It is the people of Irelands choice! Always! That is a true democracy!”
Ireland must fully implement the EU Migration Pact by June 12, 2026.

So between now and 12 June 2026, several pieces of legislation have to be passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas & then signed by the President.
The next presidential election must take place by 11 Nov 2025…
McGregor did not hold back on his criticism for the Irish government, during his visit to the White House prior to meeting President Trump and he said,
“I’m here to raise the issue the people of Ireland face, and it’ll be music to people of Ireland’s ears because never on the main stage has the issues people of Ireland face been spoke. You know our government has long since abandoned the voices of the people of Ireland and It’s high time that America is made aware of what is going on in Ireland. What is going on in Ireland is travesty. Our government is the government of zero action with zero accountability. Our money is being spent on overseas issues that has nothing to do with the Irish people.”

“The illegal immigration racket is running ravage on the country. There are rural towns in Ireland that have been overrun in one swoop that have become a minority in one swoop so the issues need to be addressed. The 40 million Irish Americans as I said, need to hear this because if not, there will be no place to come home and visit. Ireland is at the cusp of potentially losing its Irishness and I’m here to raise the issue and highlight it.”
Micheál Martin opposed McGregor’s comments and said he’s “wrong,” and not how most Irish people feel.
