Sabalenka will be in her third French Open and 10th straight Grand Slams quarterfinals.
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka will take on her familiar rivals from China, Qinwen Zheng in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Roland Garros. It will be a rematch of the 2024 Australian Open finals. The Belarusian ace countered Amanda Anisimova in the fourth round in straight sets, while Zheng defeated Liudmila Samsonova (No. 19) in a three-set thriller to reach final-8 of the competition.
Sabalenka has come through a remarkable season with a 38-6 overall record, including three WTA titles. She reached finals at the Australian Open, Indian Wells, and Stuttgart, and won titles in Brisbane, Miami, and Madrid. She has gone 15-2 on clay court this year and didn’t drop a single set en route to the Roland Garros quarterfinals.
The world No. 1 will be in her third French Open and 10th straight Grand Slams quarterfinals. She dispatched the 16th-seed Anisimova with 11 aces and a 73% first-serve win rate. Over the past one year, she captured six titles including the US Open, but Roland Garros glory is missing from her trophy cabinet. It would be a great chance for the Belarusian ace to take a revenge of her Rome Masters loss to Zheng.
Aryna Sabalenka has reached 10 consecutive Grand Slam Quarterfinals.

The only time she hasn’t reached a Quarterfinal since US Open 2022 was when she did not play Wimbledon in 2024.

Qinwen Zheng, the Olympic champion, had a roller-coaster ride this year with a 17–8 season record. She will be in her first Roland Garros quarterfinal and if she defeats Sabalenka, she would surely be a contender to play the final. Zheng won the gold medal on the Persian clay last year when she beat four-time Roland Garros champion, Iga Swiatek. She would look to take confidence from her straight-set victory in Rome against Sabalenka.
Aryna Sabalenka and Qinwen Zheng have come across on big occasion as it will be their fifth quarterfinal game. They previously met in the WTA 1000 Rome Masters quarterfinals where Zheng had the last laugh. The Chinese ace ended the six-match losing streak against the world No. 1. Sabalenka holds the 6-1 lead over Zheng in the WTA Head-to-Head meetings.

Aryna Sabalenka is on a dominant display this year with six appearances in the final, including the Australian Open. She is yet to drop a set in the 2025 Roland Garros. Zheng dispatched the Belarusian ace in straight sets in Rome and it could add fire to this matchup. Despite a 6-1 advantage over the Chinese ace, Sabalenka might face hurdles during the game. Meanwhile, the ongoing winning momentum and a sharp approach makes the Belarusian favorite in the game and set up a tantalising semi-final against Elina Svitolina or Swiatek.
Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka to win in straight sets.
