Franco Colapinto might get to stay beyond 5 races at Alpine
Franco Colapinto was racing in 2025 once again. The Argentine driver did not have seat for the 2025 F1 season. However, he was secured by Alpine F1 as their reserve driver for 2025. Colapinto got his moment to shine one month. He was subbed for an underperforming Jack Doohan. Colapinto took the wheel of Alpine from the Imola GP. He was set to drive on a five-race contract.
Last time Colapinto made a mid-season debut, he was able to turn many heads with his performance at Williams F1. However, Franco Colapinto could not bring back the same magic in the 2025 season with Alpine F1. To make matter worse, he was facing heavy criticism by the media. Earlier on Flavio Briatore came forward in his defence to put down the claims by media. It seems like his efforts have been rewarded after his initial stint at Alpine.
Franco Colapinto’s first five races with Alpine were difficult and unstable to say none the least. He is yet to score to a point for the team in his five race stint. Colapinto is steadily improving his results as the weekends progress. He managed to bring P12 during the Candian Grand Prix qualifying and narrowly missed out on points. Colapinto looked steady during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend once again. However, he lagged behind during the race finishing P13.

As it stands currently, Colapinto’s management team is trying their best to keep him racing in 2025. Alpine have approved him for further races in the initial evaluation. According to the Argentine driver-
“Generally, I’ve been feeling better, more comfortable and more connected with the car and that’s what we are looking for. At the end of the day we are just trying to focus race-by-race and go step-by-step, then we’ll see what happens.”
The upcoming Grand Prix in Silverstone will be a crucial race for Colapinto. He made his debut in F1 last year with Williams at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. Things are going to get rather difficult for him. Colapinto is going to serve a penalty in the next race for forcing Oscar Piastri off track in the Austrian GP. He will have to compensate for the same if he wants to keep his chances alive for his seat.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
