Lewis Hamilton Considers Liam Lawson’s Demotion “Pretty Harsh”!

Rohan Singh

Liam Lawson finds support from Lewis Hamilton ahead of Japanese Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton was a super rookie when he debuted with McLaren in 2007. He managed to finish second in the drivers’ championship competing against a veteran teammate like Fernando Alonso. Hamilton lost the 2007 championship by only one point. Even though the current seven-time world champion is among the overachievers of F1, he doesn’t shy away from supporting rookie drivers. Lewis Hamilton displayed a caring attitude towards the young RB driver, Isack Hajdar after his breakdown. Hamilton has spoken up again for another rookie driver.

Lewis Hamilton has decided to side himself with former Red Bull rookie, Liam Lawson. Lawson was swiftly demoted from his seat before the Japanese Grand Prix. The lack of performance displayed by him compared to his teammate, Max Verstappen was the sole reason for his demotion. The entire media fell into a frenzy after this news came out. Liam Lawson’s demotion is being debated upon by experts and fans alike. While many blame Lawson for not being fast enough, others have shared their sympathy towards the driver. Lawson himself was badly shaken up. He revaled that the situation felt “pretty tough” to him.

Lewis Hamilton Reacts to Red Bull Driver Swap

Lewis Hamilton is no stranger to Red Bull driver swaps. He has witnessed every driver clash and swap at Red Bull after Sebastian Vettel’s entry into Formula 1. Hamilton was critical of Isack Hajdar’s treatment by Marko. He went on to provide as much support as he could to the young RB rookie. Liam Lawson is in a similar state as Isack Hajdar after his dismissal from the Red Bull seat. Even though Lawson was treated unfairly by the Bulls, he is being trolled and hated for lack of results.

In a crucial moment like this, Lewis Hamilton stepped forward again. This time, he criticised Red Bull‘s treatment of the young driver and addressed their decision as too harsh.

“I think there’s naturally a lot of pressure on youngsters coming in and I think there’s no way you can get fully on top of a car which is known to be not the easiest car to drive. Just to get in two races was pretty tough.”

Hamilton’s words echoed the same advice he gave Hajdar after his heartbreaking crash in Australia. Hamilton emphasized the fact that he is also getting up to speed with his new Ferrari one step at a time.

Lewis Hamilton and His Troubles at Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton chose Ferrari for the 2025 season in hopes of returning to the grid of the grid. If we talk about the statistics of the first two races, Hamilton’s move has backfired on him. His previous team is displaying a much better pace than the Prancing Horses. Ferrari is one of the weakest front running teams of the grid in 2025. Hamilton had to face a meager start to the season. He was able to win the Sprint race in China only to get disqualified in the main race. Hamilton’s troubles with the car can plague his chances of fighting for the world championship if he doesn’t overcome these issues.

Lewis Hamilton stepping up for Liam Lawson might not be as surprising as you may think. After all, drivers like Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri and Pierre Gasly have chipped in their silent support for the young Kiwi.
