Max Verstappen Defends His Stance On Liking Controversial Post!

Max Verstappen did not commit a "mistake" while liking Giedo van der Garde's Instagram post.

Max Verstappen joined the array of drivers who have stood up against Red Bull’s decisions in the current season. Verstappen is the lead driver for Red Bull but he was equally disappointed by them. The situation has escalated to the point that Marko himself came forward to confirm that Verstappen did not like Red Bull’s decisions. Additionally, Max Verstappen also liked a post on Instagram which criticised Red Bull for dropping Liam Lawson two races in. The post contained heavy criticism and strong words against the Red Bull driver management team. Verstappen’s like on the post triggered a series on reactions in the media.

Max Verstappen is a straightforward personality in the F1 paddock. He is known not to hold back when standing up for himself in the paddock. Verstappen’s strong decisions and his ability to stand by his actions makes him one of the most strong willed drivers of the grid. As such, Verstappen did not stop before slamming critics for questioning him about his actions. He had doubled down on his word clarifying that he did not commit a mistake while liking the post.

Max Verstappen Speaks Up About Liking Giedo van der Garde’s Post

The Japanese GP weekend began on Friday with the Free Practice sessions. The decisions taken by Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s involvement was sure to chaos in the paddock. Sure enough, the Dutchman was approached by reporters regarding his recent social media interactions. However, Max Verstappen stood up for himself explaining the fact that his actions are pretty obvious. He also commented that there was no mistake involved in his reaction to the post rebuking Red Bull.

When reporters further enquired about his disagreements with Red Bull, Verstappen silenced them and refused to expand further on the matter.

Besides Verstappen, Pierre Gasly, Oscar Piastri and Nico Hulkenberg had also liked the post on Instagram. However, considering Max Verstappen’s position at Red Bull, he was the most obvious target for F1 media.

So far, Lewis Hamilton is the only other driver who has been vocal about the situation. He mentioned the fact that the rookie drivers are under a lot pressure. Hamilton stated that the treatement of Liam Lawson at Red Bull was “pretty harsh“. Kimi Anotnelli is the only rookie of the 2025 season, who seems to have a good start to his career with good performances in both races.
