Top players ready for Riyadh as 2025 season finale promises thrilling clashes

The lineup for the 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh is finally complete. The season-ending championship will take place from November 1 to 8, featuring the top eight players from the Race to Riyadh standings: Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina, Madison Keys and Jasmine Paolini.

It took nearly ten months of tennis and one final push in Tokyo to determine the field. The group includes major winners, returning stars, and first-time qualifiers, each arriving with a unique story. The tournament offers a record $15.5 million prize pool, and the winner’s share will be $5.2 million.

The final lineup for the 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh is as follows:

A Season of Resilience, Breakthroughs and Returns

Four-time Grand Slam champion Sabalenka was the first player to qualify, securing her spot in July after a dominant Wimbledon run. She enters Riyadh as the top seed once again, while Swiatek, a six-time Grand Slam champion, followed in August after her Cincinnati Open final. She will be making her fifth straight WTA Finals appearance and remains one of the most consistent forces in women’s tennis.

The United States will have a strong presence this year. Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula, and Madison Keys have all qualified, marking the first time since 2003 that four Americans feature in the singles draw. Gauff, now 21, earned her fourth consecutive qualification after reaching the China Open’s fourth round. Anisimova will make her debut, capping her best season yet, which included four finals and a WTA 1000 title in Doha.

Keys turned back the clock with a redemptive 2025 season. She lifted her first Grand Slam trophy in Australia and became the fourth American to book a spot in Riyadh. Pegula, last year’s runner-up, will look to finish one step higher after a season that highlighted her all-surface versatility.

Italy’s Jasmine Paolini also continues her breakout form, qualifying for singles and doubles alongside Sara Errani. The final spot went to Elena Rybakina, who clinched qualification with a semifinal run in Tokyo. Teenager Mirra Andreeva narrowly missed out after visa issues and early exits late in the year.

The stage in Riyadh is set for the best of 2025 to collide once more. With Sabalenka and Swiatek leading the charge and Gauff returning as the defending champion, the WTA Finals promise a week of power and storylines worthy of a season’s finale.

But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
