Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, who celebrated his 40th birthday last month, produced a class-show while going for an incredible dunk against the Dallas Mavericks. The veteran guard continues to amaze at the age of 40 years old with powerful play.

Rui Hachimura missed a corner 3, and his teammate Max Christie grabbed the rebound near the baseline. The Lakers guard threw the ball down the floor to LeBron James. The 40-year-old took the pass and sprinted to the rim. James switched the ball mid-air and threw down a left-handed windmill dunk over Dallas Mavericks rookie center Dereck Lively II with 8:06 remaining.

Despite the absence of their two star players Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Dallas Mavericks handed the Lakers a crushing 97-118 loss. Quintin Grimes was the top performer for Dallas with 23 points, while PJ Washington chipped in with 22 points. Anthony Davis led all the scorers with 21 points.

“When the ball is popping and the ball is going in, you’re able to play defense with a set defense. If not, they get out and run it or turn the ball over, which we didn’t do too much of that,” LeBron said after the loss.

LeBron James is averaging 23.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game. The Lakers will now go on a five-game homestand, starting with a clash against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday.
