The Dallas Mavericks’ season is beginning to unravel, courtesy of frequent injuries. After Luka Doncic was diagnosed with a left calf strain, the Mavs were already facing a major setback. But now, they been hit with another major blow. Superstar guard Kyrie Irving has been ruled out for Monday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a back sprain.
Irving, who had been filling the void left by Doncic in the team’s offense, did not play in Friday’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and now his absence will stretch into another critical game. This will be Irving’s sixth missed game of the season.
Notably, this marks the fourth time this season that Dallas will be without both of its top stars on the same night.
However, unlike Luka, who is expected to be sidelined for at least a month, Irving is likely to make a return in team’s next game against Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.
