Jimmy Butler Trade: Warriors reportedly willing to step out from pursuing Miami forward

The NBA trade deadline is closing in one month and the Golden State Warriors have started preparation to boost their roaster. The Warriors want to add a star player, who can help Steph Curry in the offense and Jimmy Butler’s name came first. Meanwhile, multiple reports claim that the Warriors are unlikely to facilitate a deal for the Miami forward.

The Warriors already made a deal with the Brooklyn Nets for Dennis Schroder, and the German guard has found a place in Steve Kerr’s starting lineup. On the other hand, Jimmy Butler was once a prime target for the Warriors but they stepped out from the idea of signing the six-time NBA All-Star before the deadline. The Warriors are reportedly more interested in acquiring Nikola Vucevic than Jimmy Butler.

In the last few weeks, Jimmy Butler’s trade story caught fire and the latest development from the Miami Heat provided a chance for rival clubs to start making offers. Jimmy Butler recently faced suspension from the Heat for conduct detrimental to the team. The Florida-based side is officially shopping him around.

According to NBC’s Monte Poole, “The Warriors, according to league sources, were “skittish” about adding Butler even amid reports that the Miami Heat star would be interested in coming to Golden State.”

The Athletic added more insight to this trade saga. The leading outlet claims that the Golden State could be an ideal option for Butler but the Warriors are not currently seeing him as a viable option. Butler’s age and his injury history make him a risky choice. His price tag makes him an untenable option.

Jimmy Butler missed 22 regular-season games last season and has missed 20 games already in the 2024-25 season. In the last three seasons, the six-time NBA All-Star has missed 60 regular-season games. Butler makes $48.8 million this season, with a $52.4 million player option for 2025-26.

Butler, who was supposed to prefer a team based in Texax, has already received refusals from the Mavericks and Rockets as per reports. Phoenix Suns are leading the chart but they can only push for the deal if a third team gets involved.
