Stars' Tyler Seguin Faces Extended Recovery After Hip Surgery
Tyler Seguin will be sidelined for 4-6 months for the Dallas Stars due to a hip injury that necessitates surgery.
Tyler Seguin is set to have surgery on Thursday and is anticipated to be sidelined for four to six months. As stated by the Stars general manager, Jim Nill, the procedure is intended to fix a left-side FAI (femoral acetabular impingement) and the labrum of the left hip.
The 32-year-old forward was put on injured reserve Monday, just a day after he logged 15:08 of ice time and was plus-2 in a 3-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Seguin played his final shift during the last minute of the third period. He was absent in a 2-1 victory over the Utah Hockey Club on Monday.
Seguin ranks third on the Stars with 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) and possesses a plus-14 rating over 19 games this season.
Last season, Seguin sat out 11 matches due to a lower-body injury. Due to a hip arthroscopy and labral repair in November 2020, followed by a knee scope the next month, he played only three games in 2020-21.
Seguin has amassed 808 points (360 goals, 448 assists) over 988 regular-season games with the Stars and Boston Bruins, along with 71 points (25 goals, 46 assists) in 133 Stanley Cup Playoff matches.
