Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou Basks in Europa League Glory Amid Speculation About His Next Move
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has lived up to his comment: “I usually win in my second season”, following their Europa League 2024/25 victory. Beating Manchester United 1-0 in the finals, Tottenham has lifted its Trophyless curse after decades of waiting.
Postecoglou, who has had a tough time with critics, has responded to the Spurs family with a trophy, something which was always missing from their cabinet. Following the European triumph, Postecoglou also took time to address his plans as his exit talks were always around the corner throughout the season.

Postecoglou has received backlash over Spurs’ downfall throughout the season. With the social media speculations lining up a new replacement for him every week, the Australian manager has handled the shade patiently all year. Moreover, guiding the club to its first major European trophy, Postecoglou could be well said to shut down the critics around him for now.
When asked about his future with Tottenham Hotspur, Postecoglou insisted on focusing on celebrating the glory moments with friends and family. Replying to what stands ahead for Postecoglou, the manager in his post-match conference said:
“No, clear meeting, no discussion, no one spoke to me. The weight of this game must be the reason. I do know, I’ll go back to my hotel room, gather some family and friends and open a nice bottle of scotch”
“We’ll be ready for the big parade on Friday. Then there’s playing Brighton on Sunday, a massive game. Important to finish the season strong.”
“From there on it’s just holidays with my beautiful family. I deserve it”
Postecoglou has been surprisingly backed up by Chairman Daniel Levy and co this season. The 59-year-old also expressed that he would be gutted to leave after coming this far, as he continued,
“I’d be disappointed if I couldn’t continue on this path. Mate, I’m a winner. I’ve been a winner my whole career”.
“Even when I signed, Daniel Levy said we went after winners and it didn’t work, now we’ve got Ange”.
Living up to his words and ending the Lilywhites’ silverware drought, many would argue that Postecoglou’s future should be secured at the Lane. However, looking at their position in the Premier League and some rock-bottom, Tottenham will approach the future of the manager at the club cautiously.
While Postecoglou has managed to achieve something no other has, Tottenham Hotspur’s struggles will continue in England. With the club hitting their first ever PL campaign with 20 defeats, Levy and his board will have a lot on their plate over the summer.
With the victory parade in order on Friday, Postecoglou and his players will take a sigh of relief for now. After a rollercoaster season, the Lilywhites will finally be able to see a trophy in their cabinet as the celebrations are just beginning in North London.
