Spurs Eye Versatile Ghanaian Forward As They Prepare for Life Without Club Captain Son Heung-Min.
Tottenham Hotspur are planning for a future without the key player Heung-Min Son in their midst. Reportedly, looking for his replacement Spurs have recognized Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. Son’s contract will be running out in 2026. Even so, speculations are mounting over a potential exit this summer itself.
Semenyo will be both a versatile and an economical option for Spurs to bolster their attack. The Ghanaian forward has been enjoying a stellar season with Bournemouth. He has scored nine goals and provided six assists across all competitions. Semenyo joined the Cherries from Bristol City in January 2023.
We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026 🤍

Since then, he has steadily grown into one of the Premier League’s most promising attackers. Spurs are looking for a right-footed winger, who is capable of adapting to different attacking roles. Semenyo’s ability to play across the final third makes him a favourable option for Spurs. However, they will have to fight in the market.
Reportedly, Arsenal and Chelsea are keeping an eye on Semenyo’s progress as well. Even so, reportedly, Son, at 32, may be looking for a move away this summer. Hence, with Spurs looking for a long-term attacking solution in place of Son, they are currently leading the race for Semenyo’s signature.
Semenyo signed a five-year contract with Bournemouth last summer, but Spus still believe that they can negotiate a reasonable deal for the forward. Given the inflated transfer market, Spurs see the Ghanaian international as a cost-effective alternative. They may have some high-profile attacking targets already in the market, but they may come too costly.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Spurs’ pursuit of Semenyo could intensify. Bournemouth teammate Lewis Cook praised Semenyo, saying the forward has “all the ability in the world.” At 25 years of age, Semenyo still has his best years ahead of him. Hence, a move to Tottenham would be a significant step up in his career.
Spurs can offer him the chance to compete in European competitions and challenge for silverware which is something currently lacking at Bournemouth. Additionally, If Son decides to leave, Spurs will need a replacement who can hit the ground running. The Bournemouth attacker may just be the ideal candidate to fill that void.
