The FA Cup has once again lived up to its billing as it delivered a thrilling set of fixtures in the quarter-final stage. This year’s tournament has had no shortage of drama and emotion. The draw for the Emirates FA Cup semi-finals was made after the quarter-final clash between Preston North End and Aston Villa. The four remaining teams will now battle it out to make it to the final of the oldest football competition in the world.

Crystal Palace kicked off the FA Cup quarter-final weekend in style with a dominant 3-0 victory over fellow London side Fulham on Saturday. Fulham began the match on the front foot and dominated the opening 25 minutes against Oliver Glasner’s men. However, the momentum shifted completely when Eberechi Eze turned the game around with a dazzling five-minute spell, scoring twice to hand Crystal Palace a two-goal advantage just before half-time.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest held their nerve in a tense encounter against Brighton, progressing to the semi-finals after a goalless draw and a dramatic penalty shootout win.

The reigning Premier League champions Manchester City also sealed their place in the semis with a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth. Meanwhile, Aston Villa comfortably saw off Championship side Preston North End with a 3-0 win at Deepdale stadium. Marcus Rashford, currently on loan from Manchester United, opened his account for Villa by netting a second-half brace.

FA Cup Semi-finals Format

The FA Cup semi-finals are contested as a single-leg knockout match. There will be no second leg or replay matches in the semi-finals. If the match is level after 90 minutes, the game proceeds to extra time, which consists of two 15-minute halves. If the scores remain tied at the end of extra time, the outcome is decided by a penalty shootout.

When will the FA Cup semi-finals be played?

The two FA Cup semifinals will be played on Saturday April 26 and Sunday April 27, 2025. Final confirmation of which fixture will be played on which day is expected to be announced soon.
