Panthers are 1 win away from repeating as Stanley Cup Champions!
The 2025 Stanley Cup Final has reached the business end now with Game 6 coming up from Sunrise, Florida, on Tuesday, June 17. After a standout performance in Game 5 by the Panthers, they now have the chance to wrap up the series and hoist the Stanley Cup for the second year running in front of their fans.
Heading back to Edmonton for Game 5, the Panthers let a big 3-0 lead slip after the first period and allowed the Oilers back into the game. But if Florida felt deflated, it sure did not show it in Edmonton, even after the long flight to process their loss.
Game 6 should be a cracker as Edmonton will no doubt bring their A-game despite how tired they might be by now. It’s been a long and tiring season, but with the Championship on the line, it really is now or never.

Leading up to Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, there have been a few points that have been instrumental in the way the series is shaping up thus far. Although it is still a tight series, Florida just looks like the better team.
First of all, the Panthers have done well to start games with the lead and build on them, but their inability to hold the lead has pushed this series this far. In Game 1, they had a two-goal cushion, and in Game 4, they had a 3 goal lead, only to allow the Oilers to come from behind and win. But in Games 3 and 5, they showed their superiority. The Panthers possess the better roster overall, and forward Brad Marchand has made the Finals his own.
Secondly, Edmonton has had trouble with its penalties, and even though no power play goals were scored in the previous game by the Panthers, Florida’s power-play unit has worked wonders thus far.
Furthermore, the goaltenders have been a major factor as well. Sergei Bobrovsky has been sharp for the most part, with the occasional lapse, but otherwise he has made some splendid saves. The same cannot be said of Edmonton’s goalies. They started with Stuart Skinner for the first 4 games, but Calvin Pickard was given the nod in Game 5, and both goaltenders have struggled to keep the Panthers at bay.

Following their win in Florida, the alst time the two teams played their, Edmonton clawed its way back from the jaws of defeat and earned a massive road victory after trailing 0-3 at one point. Returning home for Game 5, it felt as if the Oilers would be in much better shape mentally, but the game proved otherwise.
Florida came out with the intention to play from the get-go, while Edmonton seemed drained and lacking any real enthusiasm. However, they have their backs to the wall now, and with nothing to lose and everything to gain, Edmonton can no longer afford a lackluster effort if they want to push this to a Game 7 back at home.

As of now, the Panthers have all the momentum in their way, and they have been the better team, especially in the last three games, even though they ended up losing Game 4. Florida’s roster depth has been crucial, but Brad Marchand’s 6 goals in these Finals have played a huge role, and the Oilers seem to have no answers for him.
Having the chance to seal the deal in front of their home crowd and not go back to Edmonton for a nerve-wracking Game 7 should be enough incentive to get the job done. Ideally, it feels like the Panthers are on their way to a second title in as many years.
Prediction: Panthers win the game and series 4-2.
Pretty high praise from a man who's been around the game for a long time. 👀

Edmonton started the series as the slight favorites to win, but as the games have progressed, the odds have kept shifting. Prior to Game 6, Florida is now the favorite, and with good reason.
They have shown their superior quality of play, and their physicality has made it difficult for Edmonton to cope with. Moreover, the Panthers have also done an amazing job of keeping Connor McDavid in check throughout the series.
Edmonton Oilers: 39/20
Draw: 16/5
Florida Panthers: 21/20
