Premier League 2024–25 Season Proved To Be a Drought-Ending Season for These 3 Teams!

Abhinav Goel

In a season full of unexpected triumphs, three Premier League clubs finally put an end to their long-running trophy droughts.

The 2024–25 Premier League season will be remembered not just for its footballing drama, but for the emotional release of three clubs finally ending their long-standing trophy droughts. For these three clubs, this campaign delivered moments that fans have waited a generation to witness. For fans of these three clubs, it was all well worth the wait.

Tottenham Hotspur – A European Night to Remember

After years of “so close, yet so far,” Tottenham Hotspur finally found glory in Bilbao, lifting the UEFA Europa League with a gritty 1-0 win over Manchester United. Brennan Johnson’s deflected strike in the first half sealed the win, handing Spurs their first trophy in 17 years and their third European title overall. Victory in the final against the Red Devils sees Spurs become the second English club to win the Europa League three times, along with Liverpool.

Since winning the Carabao Cup in 2008, the North London outfit has come close on several occasions but fallen short, most notably in the Champions League final in 2019 against Liverpool. After a domestic campaign where both Spurs and United finished in the bottom half of the table, this victory punched Tottenham’s ticket back into the Champions League. For fans starved of silverware since the 2008 League Cup, the sight of Heung-Min Son lifting the trophy was nothing short of magical.

Crystal Palace – 164 Years in the Making

Crystal Palace capped off one of football’s most romantic stories by clinching their first-ever FA Cup, ending a 164-year wait for a major honour. The Eagles stunned the footballing world by beating Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley, with Eberechi Eze’s first-half strike and Dean Henderson’s penalty heroics sealing the fairytale.

For a club that had come up short in two previous FA Cup finals (1990 and 2016), this win was redemption in its purest form. It also ensured Palace’s first-ever qualification for European football. The outpouring of emotion from fans who saw their club lift a major trophy for the first time, made it one of the season’s most heartwarming stories.

Newcastle United – A 54-Year Curse Broken

For Newcastle United, years of near misses and heartbreak were washed away in March, when they defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the EFL Cup Final. Goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak ended a domestic trophy drought stretching back 54 years, sparking unforgettable scenes across Tyneside.

The win marked Newcastle’s first major honour since the 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and their first domestic silverware since 1955. Newcastle supporters embraced the historic win with tears of joy after decades of disappointment.
