Novak Djokovic Looks Roger Federer in the Eye With Insane Nitto ATP Finals 2025 Qualification Record

Serbian joins Alcaraz & Sinner in the season-ending championships.

World No. 5 Novak Djokovic has become the third player to qualify for the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals, joining Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The 38-year-old Serbian recently reached the semifinals of the Rolex Shanghai Masters, and passed the cut-off mark to ensure his qualification. The prestigious season-ending competition will be played in Turin, Italy from November 9.

Earlier, Alcaraz and Sinner qualified for the ATP Finals on the back of stellar seasons. Djokovic has enjoyed some solid runs in the biggest tournaments himself. Apart from an impressive semifinal finish at all four Grand Slams, the 24-time major champ won his 100th career singles trophy at the Geneva Open. He was also runner-up at the Miami Masters. As a result, Djokovic has mathematically qualified for the year-end Finals.

Djokovic has 4,580 points at the moment, trailing Alcaraz (11,040) and Sinner (8,500). He is closely followed by the likes of Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton. The former World No. 1 has a record of 35-11 in 2025, including an 88% success rate on service games and 42% break point conversion rate. Whether or not Djokovic will compete at the ATP Finals remains to be seen.

Novak Djokovic Levels Roger Federer at the Nitto ATP Finals

There is no doubt that Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are two of the all-time greats when it comes to season-ending championships. This year, Djokovic has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals for a record-equalling 18th time in his career. This ties him with 20-time Grand Slam champion Federer, who led the pack with 18 qualifications himself. During his time as a player, the Swiss maestro held an immaculate 59-17 record at the event.

In 2024, Djokovic had the chance to equal Federer’s record of 17 appearances at the ATP Finals. However, he chose not to compete – meaning that he has another chance to become the joint highest player to feature. In spite of appearing in one edition less than his fierce rival, Djokovic holds the record for most titles (7) at the Nitto ATP Finals.

“I was really looking forward to being there, but due to an ongoing injury, I won’t be playing next week,” Djokovic had stated upon pulling out of the tournament in 2024. “Apologies to those who were planning to see me. Wishing all the players a great tournament. See you soon!” Djokovic fans will certainly hope that their idol is able to play the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals.
